Welcome back everyone! This is Rachel Kleinman here to share a new art journal page - Freedom Lies in Being Bold.
I started by adding some old torn book pages and pieces of punchinella to my page using Design Memory Craft Gel Medium. This will add subtle interest and texture to the page without being overpowering.
Once the Gel Medium was dried, I scribbled some pink and red Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils directly on the page as well Double Scoop® Gelatos® in Mango. I spread the colors with a large wet paintbrush until the entire page had color.
Next I added some patterns with a Mixed Media Stencil from the Stencil 101 Collection combined with the beautiful Boysenberry Gelatos®. I just added a small amount of Boysenberry Gelatos® to the spaces of the stencil and blended with my finger. You can also wipe the stencil down with a baby wipe to drag the color onto your journal page.
Now it's time to add the focal image! I traced the beautiful flowing leaves pattern from the Doodle Stencil Collection with my Black PITT® Artist Brush Pen.
Finally we get to color in those gorgeous leaves! I started by filling in each leaf with Design Memory Craft Gelatos® in Kiwi. I spread the pigment using my blending tool from the Gelatos® Tool Kit... this was so helpful with getting the color in those skinny spaces! Then I added some shading with a touch of Lime and Snow Cone Gelatos®, and finally added some highlight with my Stampers Big Brush Pen in White.
This wasn't enough texture for me, so I decided to add some big polka dots to the leaves. I mixed Design Memory Craft Whipped Spackle with some Boysenberry Gelatos® and used that paste with the circle pattern from the Stencil 101 Collection. Once the Whipped Spackle was completely dry I used my finger to add some Texture Luxe™ Gold to the dots and random places throughout the page.
The page was finished off with a quote that I wrote using a Black PITT® Artist Brush Pen and a Black Stamper's Big Brush Pen... I think next I'll practice some handwriting tricks, everyone can always improve ;). Handwriting is a personal mark and doesn't always need to look perfect for your projects.
Thanks so much for joining me! I hope you've been inspired to dive into your art journal today!
