Hi everyone! Carisa back with you today for my final project as part of the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Fall/Winter Guest Design Team. I have had the best time these past couple months and the rest of the team has been phenomenal to work with. I'm lucky that I got to meet a couple of people at their booth last month at CHA and I'm so glad I did!! I've had this heavy chipboard letter Z hanging around my house forever - I thought it was time to add a little color to it and make it pretty! For today's post I'm featuring Texture Luxe™ on my home decor piece as the perfect accent.
First, my chipboard was completely raw so it needed to be primed. I coated the sides and back with two layers of Chalkboard Paint. Then for the front I added three light layers of Gesso. I dried those with my heat tool and moved on to adding color. Naturally, I reached for my go to color palette ranging in a colors of purples and teals. I just can't help myself and with the gorgeous range of available Gelatos® Colors it was easy to pick out my favorites. I scribbled and blended with water until I was happy with a light watercolor look for a background.
Next, I moved on to adding texture with my Stamper's Big Brush Pen and a background stamp randomly adding bits and pieces here and there for added interest. I lost most of my favorite Gelatos® Colors Aqua Dolce in the blending on the background so I cut a couple pieces off and mixed it in Gesso. I was then able to stamp with bubble wrap to bring that color back onto my letter. That is one of my favorite ways to use my Gelatos® Colors mixed with Gesso to create a tint of that color. So fun!
After that was mostly dry, I added my sentiment using a rub on. I love using rub ons to add beautiful lettering, quotes and scripture to my home decor pieces! It's simple and pretty and they work great over all the layers I added. Finally, I added some Texture Luxe™ through a stencil as well as around the edges of the letter to frame it and tie it all together. I'm super happy with the way this turned out. Thank you so much for stopping by today. If you'd like to see my full process, I have a video for you:
