Are you ready to take a creative challenge? I hope you are, for it's the time for the 12th and final Take the Challenge with Mou for 2015!
December is here. As we approach the holidays, gift-giving is on our minds. My challenge for you this month is to wrap your gifts in style using your mixed media stash! And if you use any upcycled materials in your packaging, that's a bonus!
Speaking of gift-giving, did you know that Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft has a line of Gift Sets and Kits that your beloved artists will LOVE? Be sure to check them out online or when you are browsing at Barnes & Noble. And I used the Mixed Media Kit - 50's Diner in today's gift wrapping project.
-
TEN Mixed Media Stencils: an assortment from both Stencils 101 and 201 collections.
-
FIVE Gelatos® Colors in 50’s Diner hues, namely, Aqua Dolce, Banana, Blood Orange (this one's my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE... yay! Okay, I'm back.), Metallic Melon and Squid Ink
-
Texture Luxe® Silver
-
SIX fun tools: 2 Misting Bottles, Palette Knife, Stipple Brush, Dot Dabber, Drip Dropper
-
ONE Technique Guide
Wrapping paper (I'm upcycling papers from our move)
Twine
Paper Mache Star
Let me walk you through the steps of creating this project.
Pick a sheet of plain wrapping paper large enough to wrap your chosen gift. My son loves puzzles and cube robots, so I think he will be humored by this guy!
Rub Metallic Melon, Blood Orange and Squid Ink Gelatos® colors on a palette.
Pick up some color with the sponge tip of the Dot Dabber and just press down on the wrapping paper to create a random polka dot design.
Wrap your gift up. Tie it with some red twine.
I like to add cool gift toppers to my wrapped gifts. I was so happy to find these dimensional paper mache stars that could double as Christmas tree ornament. You could also cut out your own gift toppers out of cardboard boxes. Give them a makeover with the Texture Luxe Silver that comes with the Mixed Media 50's Diner Kit.
Once the Texture Luxe dries, tie it to the gift like this and place under the tree!
Hi Mou! I saw the challenge just as I was sending a package to my son and needed to wrap a few gift cards to slip in the box. Here's the link. https://www.instagram.com/p/_Uc7ScgitF/
