Hi everyone! It's Lisa back on the blog to share a cool card to bring the New Year in style using all kinds of the Textural Accents in fun ways that you may not have thought of before. Let me show you the card and then we'll get started!
Fun, isn't it? I think it is and I RARELY compliment my own work. ;)
Here is how this card was made:
2. Scribble the colors across the paper with a fairly heavy hand. Using a flat watercolor brush and a swiping motion, wet the colors, allowing them to blend. If there are small puddles, tip the paper and allow it to drip for additional interest. Let dry.
After paper has dried....
3. Place a small stencil into center of paper and adhere using low tack masking tape. Then using a PITT Artist Pen from the Red/Yellow set, trace inside the line of the stencil.
4. Now, in hindsight, I should have done Steps 3 and 4 in reverse. But, I didn't. So, you'll see them as I did them. If you want to recreate a card like this? I would suggest doing THIS step before step 3. Okay? OKAY! So what I did here was lightly paint Gesso over the stencil. It made the colors look more pastel and gave it a very lovely focal point.
5. Remove the tape and go over any lines to darken. Go around edge of square (stencil) with the same PITT Artist Pen and a ruler.
6. Die-cut the numbers for "2016" out of coordinating patterned paper and also the word "Happy" out of glitter paper. Use Gel Medium to adhere the numbers down. Apply both under the numbers and on top, and allow to dry. For the word "Happy" also use the Gel Medium as an adhesive but only apply to the backside of the glitter paper.
*Tip - Using a Stamper's Big Brush Pen (I used Cold Grey III) over the Gel Medium, it's possible to create wonderful shadow effects. Just blend with your fingers!
7. To add MORE interest use Glaze to add a shiny border. Dip a paintbrush into the Glaze and paint a thin border around the edge. Super shiny!
8. Create your card base (standard A2 size), then cut a white accent piece ⅛" smaller than the card base. On THIS piece smear (literally) some Texture Luxe™ Pearl onto the paper using a palette knife.
9. Cut another piece of accent paper using a die and using adhesive foam squares adhere everything together. DONE! Here are some close-ups to give you alternative angles.
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today and learned a few new ways to use your products. :) Wishing you ALL a happy, safe, and creative 2016. ♥
