Mou started the challenge this month that coincides with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft's Art Journaling month. I also encourage you to start your own Art Journal this month. Like the designers of Design Memory Craft, choose an inspiration piece and choose a journal. Based on the inspiration, start working on your art journal. You can keep working on your journal throughout the month and beyond. Share with us your inspiration piece and the art journal you have picked by leaving comments to this post with your links.
We are using the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Square Journal Board. You are free to choose your own favorite journal.
Hi everyone! It's Lisa here with you today to share the inspiration for my art journal this month. I just got back super late Wednesday night/Thursday morning from a whirlwind trip to Colorado! So this trip is the inspiration for my art journal. It was so amazing and exactly what I needed.
I'll be using Instagram photos, doing some journaling, adding texture, and stamping throughout the journal. I hope that you'll all enjoy the process.
I'm using this classic postcard image as my jumping off point.
To prep my art journal pages I'm going to start with Gesso. Since I know I'll be using Gelatos® in various shades I like to use Gesso to really help the Gelatos® glide and blend, but this is totally not necessary. Just a personal preference.
I already printed the image and cut out the word "Colorado". Since I'll be doing a mix of journaling and adding photos I cut the word into pieces and added Gel Medium to the top. I'll be adding layers of color and texture as I build the journal so I want to make sure the letters are sturdy.
I then applied some washi tape in just a few strips which I adhered (again) with the Gel Medium.
I collected a few Gelatos® for this first page from the new Metallics 15-pc Collection: Iced Coffee, Metallic Blueberry, Metallic Icing, Iced Currant, Iced Pear. And I'll be using these consistently throughout my project.
I can't wait to share my short, but exciting trip to Colorado with you through this art journal. It was so much fun and such a needed getaway for me.
See you next week!
