Hi everyone and welcome to day two of the blog hop with Canvas Corp! Rita Barakat here and today I am sharing a Canvas Corp 6x6 Canvas Stitched Mini I decorated with a few of my girls. I had so many pictures I made a little video of the finished mini portfolio below (this is the cover)! Here are some tips and techniques I used...
You can use Gesso or paint directly on the canvas with Gelatos® Colors! If you are doing a lot of fine detail you might want to use a thin layer of Gesso first - it gives you a smoother surface and a little more time to manipulate the colors.
I draw directly on the canvas, then spread the color with a wet paint brush. If I am covering a large surface, such as the background I grab Gelatos® Double Scoop® and mist the surface instead of just using a wet paint brush.
All of the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® textures worked on the canvas; with and without stencils. On the left I am using the Texture Luxe™ Gold with a stencil. On the right I used the Chalkboard Paint for the wings (I love the contrast between the paint and Gelatos®) and the Glass Bead Glitter Gel with the stencil. Have you tried the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® products on canvas yet? Here is my finished project...
Be sure to hop along this week with our fantastic Design Team to see what we've made with the Canvas Corp. products and check out the Canvas Corp blog to see what they've done with the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® products this week, too! To win Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft's $50 prize, comment below each day this week. One random winner will be selected on April 20th. Good luck!

That is so very, very pretty. I love your ladies and using a canvas tote to create a mini book is seriously inspired. Thank you too for sharing how you did this and the tip for using gesso. I think I am going to have a hunt through my stash as I know I had one or two canvas totes that I wanted to decorate and I think I may try this now. No Rita - I haven't tried the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® products on canvas but I will NOW. How silly of me not to since I do most of my projects on canvas. OH OH - I take that back... hello - I use my pitt pens on canvas ALL THE TIME. In fact, they are by far my favorite go to product of all. HOWEVER... now I will try others. Rambling... ugh. YOUR BOOK IS INCREDIBLE. Brings back memories! Thirty five years ago my mother in law made my daughter a canvas book. They last forever! This one with all your GORGEOUS girls is a keeper for sure. I just love everything about it. The girls and their colors - spectacular. I love seeing you create Rita. j.

Putting gesso down first was really helpful for detailed gelatos & also about misting for large areas as opposed to directly on the media. Thanks for those tips!
