Hello! I am so excited to be on the Guest Design Team again. I hope to inspire you to take out those Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® products and come play with us! Today I am featuring a couple of their newest releases from CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) Mega Trade Show last month :) These are perfect additions to your Design Memory Craft® supplies!
I had a work in progress canvas that I didn't like it so I re-purposed it for today's project. Just use two coats of Chalkboard Paint and it goes away! LOL! The image below is only one coat - dry between coats :)
Next I strengthen my Mixed Media Stencils 101 (aka NEW!) with Gesso because one of these days I will use them as my background (they are chipboard stencils) - it will be used several times first! BUT if you want to preserve them further, I would suggest putting on a coat or two of our Glaze.
See that lovely texture?! That is also a NEW release - Silver Texture Luxe™! It is a rich and beautiful color - it also comes in Pearl and Gold. I used my palette knife to spread this texture out...Be Still My Heart!
Since there is a good amount on the stencil, I flipped it and pressed it down as a stamp. The left side below is how it comes out. Don't you love it?! Don't want to waste the texture, you know? LOL!
After stenciling and stamping, I added Design Memory Craft® Metallic Blueberry Gelatos®. There were two ways I applied: 1) color mist by melting the Gelatos® with water and placing the liquid into a mister; and 2) while the canvas was damp, I added the Gelato® directly over the stenciled area for a deeper color.
Next I choose a few pieces of papers (embossed paper, printed vellum and blue cardstock) to mat the photo of my old neighborhood. I distressed the edges of the papers and colored the edges of the photo with the Silver Texture Luxe™.
Couldn't get enough of the Silver Texture Luxe™ so I shaped my wire into three loops and colored it with the texture using a palette knife. You don't need too much to color.
Instead of spreading snowflakes over this busy background, I cut/embossed Spellbinders® Snowflake View Die #3 (the smallest size is die #1) and placed the die cut behind the layered photo mat. Using the Texture Gems™ in Pearl, I created dimensional pearls in the centers of the snowflake design as accent.
Here is a closer look at the project...
