Hi everyone! Christine here. Today's project was inspired by my three-year-old nephew. We'll be opening gifts together on Christmas morning and I want him to be able to find his own gift under the Christmas tree, despite not being able to read quite yet. Like you, I have a number of gifts to tag and wanted something personal, but simple. And I wanted to use supplies I already had. Voila, Christmas Photo Tags were born!
I began by coloring some scrap watercolor paper (hotpress) with stripes of vibrant Christmas colored Gelatos®.
I wanted these accent pieces to really pop, so I added a layer of Glaze to make it shine.
While the Glaze dried, I cut some hotpress watercolor paper into 4x4 squares, giving me a little more room to work over the traditional tag size, and I rounded the corners. I had previously used Word to crop some family pics to use in my tags and printed them out on my ink jet printer.
Once I'd stuck down my photos, it was time to embellish. Here I used a coral stamp to make reindeer antlers. Using a Stamper's Big Brush Pen, I custom-inked certain parts of the stamp. The post-it tape helped me to visualize which parts of the coral would make the best antlers.
Isn't that the cutest?! I colored the antlers with an ART GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil. Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® makes it easy to match colors with their the color-coordinated Mix and Match palettes!
I was able to accessorize myself using a cute Santa had with the glazed colored paper I created. I topped the hat off with a pompom by using generous dab of Glass Bead Glitter Gel. It looks so cool when it dries!
Check out the shine on these hats!
To finish off the tags, I custom colored some more Christmas rubber stamps and added a few extra details withy my fine tip black PITT® Artist Pen.
While it may seem a bit stark to leave the backgrounds white, these tags will be on gifts wrapped with patterned paper and will stand out where presentation counts most. Knowing my family, I think a few of these might even end up as Christmas ornaments!
