Hi there everyone! Today I'm sharing with you a mixed media piece that can be done in no time. I made a bunch of these this year as Christmas gifts and I think I might keep on going to get a head start for next year ;) Here are the steps and all the details you need to make this festive piece:
I started off with a piece of wood. I sanded down the really rough edges and then used a generous amount of Gesso for my base. I cut some paper, crumpled it all in my hand and adhered it to the wood block using some Gel Medium. Then I added some Gelatos® to bring out the texture in the crumpled paper.
I used some water and spritzed the Gelatos® and rubbed it all over the block with my fingers. I used a baby wipe to get rid of the excess. I grabbed some Whipped Spackle, Glass Bead Glitter Gel, some red acrylic paint and my spatula tool and mixed it all together on my craft mat. I applied the mixture over a stencil onto the surface of the wood block. Used my heat gun for a quick dry ;)
Then I took a some water, a green Gelato® and a paint brush and applied a generous amout of green colour to the top of the block and let it drip down the the bottom. I added a bit of water to some gesso and splattered it all over to achieve the effect of snow specks. I wrapped some twine around the block.
I took a star made out o f birch wood and added a generous amount of Glamour Dust sparkles, then added some green Gelatos® and water for some shadow and depth. I added a bit of green to the twine and adhered the star to the wood block using Gel Medium.
Voila, its all finished to sit on a shelf to display!
I hope you are enjoying your holidays and will find some time to get messy and create something!
