Hi everyone! Margie Higuchi here with my last post for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Guest Design Team - Summer 2014! Just want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® (shout out to sweet Naoko Ohno!!) for letting me play with their products on their stage - THANK YOU!! What an honor and privilege to be working with my amazing and talented team members during this term! LOVE you guys!
OK...now let's get to some FUN~!! I am using an embroidery hoop to create this sweet and simple home decor piece. With a combination of textual accents and Design Memory Craft® Gelatos® colors, you can re-create to your own design!
First I covered the 7" embroidery hoop with Textural Accents Gesso and used it as a color instead of a primer. I gave it two coats with dry time in between - make sure you cover all sides.
Next I cut and embossed LF-114 Grand Circles die #7 (the smallest size is die #1) with desired patterned paper and watercolor paper using my Spellbinders® Grand Calibur® machine. The watercolor paper is for support as I will be adding layers, misting and stenciling with Textural Accents Whipped Spackle. Adhere both papers together.
Using my stencil, I used Whipped Spackle medium to create a subtle textured background on the right side of the circle. I love this medium because it's light and dries FAST!
I used the Gelatos® Mist Maker Set to create my color mist. Scrap some color Design Memory Craft® Gelatos® Double Scoop® Metallic Mint on wax paper, using the dropper full of water make a watery paste. Transfer to the mister and add more water to create your mist. Test first and then use.
In my case, I misted and then wiped off the color on my stenciled background. Then repeated the step again. This made the pattern stand out a little more.
I used a Cherish chipboard word as my title so I covered with Gesso, colored with Design Memory Craft® Gelatos® Double Scoop® Metallic Green and covered with Textural Accents Glass Bead Glitter Gel with my fingers.
For the flowers and leaves, I cut and embossed S4-351 Spiral Blossom One , S5-050 Rose Creations and S5-066 Shadow Flowers (retired) with patterned papers. Then stenciled through each die using Design Memory Craft® Lime Gelato®. Some I blended the color with water or just used my fingers.
For the rolled flowers, I wanted to give them extra special sparkle so I added Glass Bead Glitter Gel.
My little bicycle embellishment was just too dark so I painted it with Gesso to give it a fresh look.
Assemble all flowers, leaves, other die cuts and embellies as pictured in the finished project below. Tie a bow on top to display!

Rather than the feeling an immense get-together of people searching for getting ready at a workshop sort event, this was a gathering of people with a common target nailing it for their understudies.
