Hi everyone, Mou here and welcome to the seventh Take The Challenge of 2014!
If you are new to this blog, let me fill you in about Take the Challenge. Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. We will pick TWO winners from among the readers who participated in that month's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.
This month's challenge is to create something you don't usually create. It could be style, colors, theme, products, anything you don't create often.
For me, it's Steampunk. I like the look but don't try doing it myself. Here's my take:
In my project, I used -
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gel Medium
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gesso
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Whipped Spackle
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos Tool Set
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Square Journal Boards
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos®: Steampunk set, Black Licorice, Blueberry, Gold Champagne, Silver, Tangerine
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Metallic PITT Artist Pens 3 ct CLASSIC and COLOR
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Journaling PITT Artist pens
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush pen: BLACK
Others: stencil, dress pattern, deli paper, paper towel, stamp
Here are some close-ups of my page:
Instead of doing a photo tutorial, I did a video this month to show you the techniques. I hope you enjoy!
Don't forget to share your challenge creations with us... just leave a comment to the challenge post with link to your project image(s) by Friday, 7/18 and we will pick TWO winners randomly to win these.
The prizes for this challenge are: One set of Metallic PITT Artist pens 3 ct in your choice of classic or color
Don't forget to check back on Monday, 7/21 to see if YOU won!
Good luck to all!
GREAT page and tutorial Mou!!!
It was wonderful to watch your layers grow and very cool to see that the journaling stayed permanent too :)
It has been a while since I have been able to play along and hope that I can take up your challenge this month!!!

I love steampunk and I have a hard time. I rarely use my gelatos and thought to make an effort. I don't craft purple either so I combined the two.

Milagros, when I click your link, it says I don't have access to view the page. Could you please share in another way? Thanks :)

I loved watching your page come together in the video. I love steampunk but find it hard to recreate myself. I have trouble with layers! I was inspired by your challenge and stepped outside my muted color palate to work with bright colors in my art journal.

I love your piece. Thanks got the inspiration. I tried to making something on a burlap panel and tried to use a lot of texture : fabric, cardboard, spackle, modeling paste, embossing. Thanks for hosting this!

The steampunk project is gorgeous, Mou!
Here's my take on the challenge. I've ticked four boxes! I never use the color red, I rarely stitch on my cards, I don't use carved stamps very often and I, only once a year (!), make Christmas cards! ;-)

I liked the challenge that this challenge presented. This is not pretty but it is definitely a rarity. Thanks pushing me to get out of my comfort zone.
