Aaaah! Summer is here. In my house that means sunshine, time at the pool, friends, and fun! I thought I would play with my "stuff" while watching the kids have some fun in the sun. I made a fun little card that I can send off to the grandparents.
Quick and easy. Let me show you how. I began with a card made from Bazzill smooth white cardstock. Using the roll of tape on the desk I traced a circle in the center of the front of the card. Carefully I painted the inside of the circle with Gesso. Once dry, I sketched a sandcastle in the center.
I outlined the circle and the sandcastle in Black PITT® Artist Pen. Then I grabbed my Gelatos® and set to work coloring my sandcastle. Blues for the sky and golds and brown for the sandcastle and sand. As you can see, it was not perfect! Next I used the same Black PITT® Artist Pen and drew my letters in around the circle.
How did I draw those letters you ask? I have a cardstock stash of letters that I have sketched and perfected. I just traced them! Next, I added more depth by thickening the black lines using the PITT® Artist Pen in medium tip. And then the fun began. I have never used the Paper Crafter's Crayons™ until today. Wow. They are awesome! I colored all around the outside of the image with a bright yellow. I then hit it with my heat gun to melt it all together and give it some shine.
I love the texture it added too. You can also see in the photo above that I began the coloring of the letters and sun. Using Faber Castell Design Memory Craft® PITT® Pastel Pencils, I began adding reds, oranges, and yellows. I wanted an ombre effect so I blended them as I worked up the page.
Once I completed the colors, I grabbed the alcohol to smooth things out.
This is something I have always done with my pastel pencils. Using a small brush dipped in alcohol, gently sweep along the colors. It helps even out your drawing and blends the colors very nicely.
Almost done. It needed a bit of bling! I added some of the Glass Bead Glitter Gel on the sandcastle and a bit of Glaze on the sky and sand. Done!
Ready to add some photos inside and send to Grandma! Have a great summer day.
