Hi, Margie Higuchi here! I am sharing a special canvas project, using a combination of Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gelato® sticks and Textural Accent products.
Summer brings weddings, graduations and Father's Day but also moving days like my crafting friend, Chris. In her honor, I created this {IL Scrapper} Canvas for her new craft room in New Jersey! We belong to an online group based in Illinois and have been IL Scrappers members for 10 years!
If you are like me, I am sure there's a TON of letter stickers in your stash? No? How about spelling and listing out words with left overs!
Cover the entire canvas in Gesso. Note I globed it on thick on purpose to create texture in between the words. If it is thick, your heating tool will help to speed up the drying time.
Next I used a combination of Lemon Gelatos® Double Scoop®, Lime Gelatos®, Green Tea Gelatos®, Snow Cone Gelatos® Double Scoop®, Blueberry Gelatos® Double Scoop® and Raspberry Gelatos® Double Scoop® Colors and went to town! LOL! The Color Dot System (each color collection has a color dot system - in my case, blue and green!) which takes the stress out of choosing colors! LOVE it!
With the help of baby wipes, I blended the colors and if you think you need to add more color - go for it! I did :) To add subtle accents, I stamped Burlap Cling Background Stamp here and there with Chrome Green in Stampers' Big Brush Pen.
Next I added Whipped Spackle with my Palette Knife, using a Herringbone stencil. Love how light it is, yet holds its shape so well.
I colored with Blueberry Gelatos® Double Scoop® to tone down the white.
The photo mat was a bunch of cut patterned papers from Graphic 45's Bohemian Bazaar Collection and edged with Blueberry Gelatos® Double Scoop®. This paper collection had the perfect colors for what I was going for!
For a simple accent by the picture, I cut and embossed Bitty Blossoms flowers, along with Shadow Flower (retired) die cut to anchor. Using a combination of wet glue and 3D Foam Square for dimension - it gives just the right touch!
Tuck a house shaped paper clip with some sequins and it's ready to give! YES! I forgot to take a picture with the entire embellishment BEFORE giving it to her! LOL! So here she is "modeling" the finished project! Good luck with your new life over in New Jersey, Chris xo

Gorgeous! That's such a great idea putting the letters under the gesso.
