Hello, It's Stephanie here and today I have a card to share that features a fun technique using Gelatos® that I saw online. I can't remember where exactly it was posted, but I knew when I saw it that I had to try it!
The technique is to use Gelatos and craft foam to create fun and unique printing plates. I did this technique to create the fun background on this birthday card!
To create a fun background like this, follow these easy steps:
Cut a piece of craft foam to the size you want your print to be and then 'draw' a design into it using a stylus. This will create grooves into the foam which will be your end design. I decided I wanted circles for this one, so rather than freehand them, I used a circle stencil from Simon Says Stamp.
Once you have your design complete, spritz the entire piece of craft foam with water. The more water you use, the more watery the printed design will be.
Choose the Gelato colours you want to use in your print. For this card I used Margarita Mix and Cotton Candy. Add the colours directly to the foam in a circular motion, entirely covering the area with colour.
Place your paper on top of the design and rub your hand over the top to completely transfer the colour from the craft foam. When you remove the paper, you'll be left with a cool design for your card front.
After the first print, I spritzed the craft foam with water again and then pressed a new piece of paper onto it. The result is a more muted design. I love both of them!
And here are the two prints side by side so you can see the difference in the colour. Both would be perfect on a card or project.
There are som many possibilities with this technique... experiment with different designs and colour and you'll love the results!
Supplies:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos (Margarita Mix and Cotton Candy)
Simon Says Stamp 'From Us' Stamp Set and 'Ring Cluster' Stencil
Neenah Solar White Cardstock
Craft Foam
This is a really cool technique!!
