Hi crafty friends!
I'm here with my final post as a Guest Designer for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft. I've had such a great time being on the team and am so grateful to have had the opportunity! Thank you to Naoko and all the Design Memory Craft team!
Thank you also to the lovely Guest Design ladies who were on the team this term too. It's been lovely working with you!
Today I've got a canvas, which I made using several of the Gelatos® and PITT® Artist Pens!
First I took some Gesso® and primed the surface of the canvas . Once it was dry, using some more Gesso®, I adhered several strips of patterned paper in a random manner to the canvas. This gave me a nice textural background to work with. (You could definitely afdhere different mediums at this stage. Fabric would look amazing too)
Next I set about 'drawing' my flowers and the barrel/bucket they sat in. I used my Gelatos® and some water for this. First I sketched in Gelato®, then I softened the lines using a wet paint brush (just wet with water).
I filled in colour where it was needed and added darker shading in places. I made sure to dry the canvas in between layers (this stops the Gelatos® from smearing and blending too much)
Once I was happy with the flowers, I set about creating a background area. I thought it looked as though the flowers were sitting in a window (or on a window ledge), so I added some more colour with Gelatos and PITT® Artist Pens, to give definition.
That's it!
You could definitely add more texture or stamping to this if you wanted a more mixed-media effect, but I wanted to leave it simple.
I hope you like it and it inspires you to give something similar a go!
Linda
