Gesso&Gelato = a soft combo

Hello Faber Friends! alexandra here with a look at the soft effect which can be achieved by applying gesso&gelato to a piece of printed paper (such as a dictionary page or an old book).

The wonderful thing about Faber-Castell's Gesso is that you can vary the level of opacity by adding layers upon layers of gesso onto your surface.

In this case, I was only trying to soften the look of the image and printed words. The gesso also acts as a base so the color added on top of it will be more intense, purer in a way.
I cut a slice of gelato, added some water and mixed well with a brush.
Then with an old tooth brush, I made some Gelato splatters on the paper.
Here is the result on the page...
and another example of Gesso&Gelato (pink in this case).

Thank You!

Très inspirée cette composition ! Donc le gesso sert à rendre les couleurs du papier + fade ici ?
