Today our featured designer is Heidi Blankenship! Here's our short Q&A with her:
If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to go to Italy or Australia. I think they would both be a great adventure!
What's your favorite food? I love Italian food.
What's your 'signature' crafting technique? I would say my 'signature' is having a very vintage/shabby chic style and that I do a lot of tutorials.
And finally...any words to our readers? I am very honored to be on the Faber-Castell Guest Design Team and I can’t wait to share my projects with everyone. I think sharing the creative process (through tutorials) is very important and it inspires people to try new things. I hope I will inspire all of you along this journey.
Hello Everyone! Heidi here today with another Guest Designer post.
Before I get started I wanted to say Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads, Dads to be, Grandpas and all of the special men out there who are like a Dad to someone.
To start I embossed a piece of premium craft foil using E3D-002 Creative Cogs 3D M-Bossabilities™ folder.
Next I applied two coats of Gesso to the foil and I used a heat tool to speed up the drying time.
Then I started to apply color to the foil using Stamper's Big Brush 3 ct. Neutral.
I used the Walnut Brown #177 and Warm Grey #273. I added just a little bit of color and then I blended it with my finger before the ink dried.
Once the entier piece was colored then I lwent over it with a baby wipe to pull a little of the color off and make some of the areas a little lighter. I also sanded the top to reveal some of the foil.
To embellish the card I added burlap trim, screw tip eyelets, gears, a memo pin, a garment pin, die cuts and the sentiemnt. To create the die cuts I used S5-127 Labels Twenty-Eight and S4-386 Cogs die templates. The sentiment stamp is from CR-03710 Anchors Away from JustRite Papercraft.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and you will give the colored foil a try!
Thanks so much for stopping by the Faber-Castell® Design•Memory•Craft Blog today and I hope you have a fantastic day!
