Hi everyone! It's Erin here again. :)
Today I'm sharing a watercolor-ish art journaling page I created that is inspired by my 6 year old niece. She stayed with us for a good chunk on the summer and we did a lot of kids art projects together...most with hearts and girly colors. I'm so thankful for that time together!
To make this page I started off with a 6" x 9 " piece of watercolor paper, a craft mat (your could use some wax paper or freezer paper instead), and a lot of Faber-Castell goodness!!
I started with some Stamper’s Big Brush Pens. I quickly scribbled out a heart-ish shape and some circle like shapes.
I then spritzed it with a little bit of water.
And then I quickly placed my watercolor paper onto the top of it, and pressed it down to get good coverage. I even used a brayer on top of it to make sure the paper got covered with the ink as well as possible.
Once the paper is flipped over you can vaguely see the heart and circle shapes still. I also took the paper and dabbed the edges into the ink that remained on the craft mat to give the paper a bit more visual interest.
It's a great start for the page.
Next, I took out some of my Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils and enhanced the heart and circle shapes. (Yes, drinking coffee while doing this helped!)
Then I took a water brush and went over the lines I just drew. I wanted some of the lines to remain after I painted over them, especially with the purple Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil, so I just went over it lightly trying not to use too much pressure.
I then added a bit of grape Gelatos™ Colors , and a touch of cold grey III Stamper’s Big Brush Pen using a water brush and my fingers adding a shadow to the heart.
I used a heat gun to dry the page completely and then used a small black PITT® Artist Pen to add some doodling around the page. I "sketched" around the heart, added some bubbles to the circles, and then after I stamped onto the page I outlined "thankful" too.
And that's it! A simple heartfelt page.

Thanks for the great tutorial! I was wondering what kind of craft mat you use. I've looked online for one but the term "craft mat" never gets any results. Thanks
