Using Faber Castell Gelatos with Stencils

I am so honored to be able to be on the Core Design Team 2017-2018. My name is Lindsay and I blog at seeLINDSAY. I love to show how easy things are to accomplish and that you don't need a lot of tools to get a great craft or recipe. Today I am going to show you how to use the Faber-Castell® Gelatos® with their coordinating stencils. Something so easy, you'll wonder why you didn't try it before.
How to use Faber Castell Stencils (1 of 1)
Supplies:

How to use Faber Castell Stencils (1 of 1)-2

Begin by unwrapping your stencil and choosing your design. I chose the Honeycomb stencil and I used washi tape to help adhere it to the surface before I began mixing my Gelatos. Take your whipped spackle and use a marble size amount and now just spread your Gelatos next to the spackle on your palette. The warmer your Gelatos, the easier it will spread. I mixed 3 different colors with 3 different bits of spackle. How to use Faber Castell Stencils (1 of 1)-3
Once your color and your spackle are mixed, used your palette knife and spread it over the stencil onto your wood. When you're adhering your stencil, be sure to place it as secure as it can be so that no spackle will go under your image. Lift up your stencil and set aside to dry. How to use Faber Castell Stencils (1 of 1)-4
Seriously, that's it. It's so simple and gives your project such great dimension. I'm excited to put these chevron arrows into my boy's room. They've been sitting in the garage for 2 years cause I wanted to do something more than just arrows. Now with my Gelatos and stencils they finally have the look I was going for. I hope you'll find inspiration in this project.

Hi Loves, Tiare here.   Planning is all the rage and I am surely an avid planner and list maker.  However, as an artist I prefer to add my own little artsy touches to pages.  I especially like adding art to my lists or bullet journal pages.  The touch of color and beauty just makes the task a lot happier and more beautiful.

Grab your Gelatos® Highlighters and let's make a "pretty" list.  Check out my quick video to see how:

Hello there, a very Happy April to you all!

FCDMC_April2017_Tutorial1_Comet_Step1_MouS

Today I want to share with you an art journal page that was inspired by a fortune cookie using Gelatos® Color IRIDESCENTS Comet.

Let's start with the supply list.

Intro to ICE LAYERS Video + Art Journal

2017-04-04 19.29.35

Design Memory Craft® has released SO many great new products this spring... one of the fun additions to textural accents are Ice Layers! Rachel Kleinman here to share an art journal page that showcases the brand new Ice Layers and the Color of the Week... Comet Iridescent Gelatos®!

2017-04-04 19.29.12

The Ice Layers are a very inventive version of your classic stencil. They are like a clear and adhesive background texture that you can cut apart to get whatever design you desire.

2017-04-04 19.29.28

Today, I used the Bubbles Ice Layers with Comet, Blue Moon, Nebula, and Satellite Iridescent Gelatos® to create a simple art journal page. I created a dimensional background before applying the Ice Layers. Then when I add the Comet Iridescent Gelatos® it helps everything stand apart!

2017-04-04 19.30.17

Last but not least, I have a quick process video for you. I share some of my Ice Layers projects before they hit the market along with a short tutorial to make the page shown here!

For the Love of Art - Tag

2017-03-23 18.16.21

Happy spring everyone! This is Rachel sharing a quick mixed media tag featuring the stunning new Iridescent Gelatos®, including the Color of the Week: Supernova.

2017-03-23 16.46.17

First, I started with this tag I had leftover from my last project; it's covered in Whipped Spackle that was mixed with Blue Moon Iridescent Gelatos®. I also had some watercolor paper from when I experimented with the brand new Color Fizz products... aren't the colors beautiful?!

2017-03-23 16.45.43

I found some rubber heart shaped stamps that I "inked" up with Supernova Gelatos®, misted with water, and stamped onto my Color Fizz watercolor paper.

2017-03-23 16.59.57

Two of the hearts were fussy cut and added to my tag, along with some drywall tape that was also colored with Supernova and Mars Gelatos®. You'll also see an extra-thick coat of Glass Bead Glitter Gel through a mixed media stencil.

2017-03-23 17.20.37

Lastly I added some word stickers and the tag is complete!

An Art Journal Page with Gelatos Color Fig

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_MouS

Hi everyone, Mou here today with an art journaling tutorial for you using the Gelatos® color Fig!

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step1_MouS

Fig is this beautiful mix of purple and grey and works really well with both warm and cool colors. Without further ado, let me show you how I used Fig in my art journaling page.

Let's start with the supplies I used:

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos® colors: Fig, Banana, Blood Orange, Blueberry, Peach

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents: Chalkboard Paint, Gel Medium, Gesso

Faber-Castell Design Memory CraftStamper's Big Brush Pen: Black

Others: Mixed media paper, found papers, thread, sewing machine, chipboard letters, paint brush, stamps, pencil

Now, let me walk you through the steps.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step2_MouS

Start by tearing found papers and attaching them to a mixed media paper base using Gel Medium. Once you have covered the whole surface, seal the papers with a top coat of gel medium. Let dry.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step3_MouS

Rub Fig Gelatos on the surface.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step4_MouS

Add more Gelatos colors and blend with Gesso.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step5_MouS

Attach chipboard letters to spell out your word of choice. I used 'Yes' based on a hashtag I saw on Instagram. Machine stitch all over the page and stamp around randomly for some added visual texture.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step6_MouS

Ink up alphabet stamps with Black Stamper's Big Brush pen to finish the message on your page.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step8_MouS

With Chalkboard Paint, brush on a focal point. I chose florals. Feel free to draw your own favorite.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step8_MouS

Make simple marks all around the focal point with pencil, Gesso, and Gelatos to finish.

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and be sure to share links to your takes with Fig Gelatos in the comments below.
