Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils

A Touch of This A Bit of That with Jamie Dougherty

Hello everyone,

Jamie Dougherty here and today I'd like to share with you a video tutorial I created of a tag I designed that would be perfect for bible journaling. Or you can use the techniques in the video in your art journal or other mixed media projects. I hope you enjoy.

FullSizeRender 4

Take your mediums and art and create a little bit of journaling.  It can be for your faith, love, hope.

No matter how your faith walks in this world. Use these watercolor layering techniques to create something beautiful.

I can't wait to see what you create from this tutorial. Please make sure you share your work with us on Facebook and tag Design Memory Craft so we can see your work!

Happy Creating

Jamie

Patriotic Watercolor Pendant

Hello, friends!  I'm Adrianne, and I'm going to share a patriotic-themed pendant with you today.  This piece is easy to make, and lets you share your red white and blue with your own style and flair!

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 7

The silver frame is a pre-made jewelry tray available in the jewelry section of your favorite craft store, and it showcases your tiny work of art.  I'm going to share my minimalist star design today, but you can put your own spin on your design to wear a piece that is one of a kind!

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 3

You can get the watercolor look you love easily using Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils.  Draw or trace a single star on a 1" square piece of white watercolor paper, and color it in shades of blue (see supply list below for the colors used here).  With a paintbrush and water, gently blend the colors.

In addition to the watercolors, you can add your favorite textures, too!  I painted the star with Pearl Texture Luxe to set it off just a little more.

Note: my pendant tray has a 1" square opening, but consider other shapes and sizes!  You can trim your paper to the correct size, and place it in the tray to ensure it's sized properly before you begin.

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 4

Once the elements of your tiny work of art have dried, give the backside of the square a generous coat of glaze to adhere it to the inside of the pendant tray.  Coat the top with a heavy layer of glaze as well, and leave it flat to dry.

When dry, string the pendant on a long necklace chain.  If you would like to add a handmade beaded charm, I'll show you the steps to create one!  These beads add a pop of red to the muted blue design for a simple and elegant look for Independence Day.

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 5

Stack a few coordinating beads onto a 2" jewelry head pin (see below for exact supplies used).  Grip the pin just above the beads with a pair of round nose jewelry pliers.  Wrap the wire end over one side of the pliers, forming a loop.

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 6

Next, wrap the wire end of the pin around the base of the pin, filling the space between the top of the bead and the loop you created.  Cut off any excess wire with wire cutters.  Attach a 15mm jump ring to the charm's loop, ensuring it's twisted fully closed to complete your beaded charm.  Alternately, you could use pre-made bead or metal charms to accent your art pendant!

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 8

String the art pendant and charm onto a necklace chain, and be prepared for the compliments you'll receive!  I prefer a long chain of 30" to hang at the ribcage area, but a standard 18" necklace will work with most necklines.  (It's your art - wear it the way you love it!)

Patriotic Watercolor Necklace 9

Thanks for joining me for today's wearable art project!  Don't forget - this technique works well for all kinds of seasonal or personalized jewelry.

We asked Jen to share a few design team stories! "Memories by Jen Matott"

I have so many amazing memories from the five years that I've been on this design team.  I was one of the original crew that started when the Design Memory Craft brand started.  DSC05490

I was sent a pack of Gelatos colors in blue, Art Grip Aquarelle pencils and some PITT Artist pens to try out and create something with.  It was amazing!  Coming up with brand new ways to use these fabulous products was a thrill!  I fell in love with Gelatos and the entire Design Memory Craft line!  I had used Faber-Castell pencils and markers since I was a kid but these were so full of possibilities!  My banner was the first art piece in the ads.  It was so exciting!  I have a lot of favorite projects from my time on this team but I'll share a few of my favorites and a few memories along the way!

DMC24

This booklet will always hold a special place in my heart.  It was the first kit project that I made and I created the project pages for the entire kit!  It went on to be one of the best selling kits.  I loved coming up with different ways to use the Gelatos on each page!  I still get a thrill when I see it on the packaging in the store!  Which leads to the next kit: Mixed Media with Gelatos.  I love this page from that artwork!  It was another amazing adventure to create art for this kit!

One of my favorite memories was getting to go to CHA in Las Vegas and Anaheim, CA!  What fun that was!  Lots of demoing and meeting people that I only knew from online.  It was a blast hanging out with the other designers and people behind the scenes at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft!

Every demo opportunity that I've had along the way has been amazing but especially with Marco's Paper!  Thanks for all those that stopped by and listened to me go on and on about these products and what they can do!

Also, the trip to Cleveland, OH to meet with the rest of the design team and staff at Faber-Castell headquarters!  It was a dream come true.  Fun to explore the entire building, hang out with everyone and brainstorm the future!  I loved every moment of it!

There are so many good memories from working with these people and products.  I cannot say enough how lucky I was, how honored that they valued my artwork and ideas and that I got to work with such cool products!  I will be forever grateful for the long stretch that I got to work with this company!  But like all good things, it's time to move on and let some new artists have those same experiences.  I am sad to leave the team at this time but I have a lot going on at home with two very busy boys, my running/ training schedule and my own artwork.  I am an elementary school art teacher too so it is time to refocus my creative and personal goals.  I will continue to work with the Design Memory Craft products in my art and hope that I can still create work to show off these products.  Thank you for the amazing opportunity to inspire and share my love of art!

Bible Journaling with Penny

Bible-Journaling-2016-main

Hello crafty friends...Penny here today. When I was first approached about Bible journaling, I didn't think I could do it. I mean really...drawing, doodling, marking up a Bible was kind of like burning a flag...legal, but just not something I would do. And besides, what if I messed it up. Then I decided that everyone makes mistakes, but a true artist can figure out how to cover it up and make it look great! So....... you jump into the good book with your first stamp and you are hooked.

No-Line Watercoloring with Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils

IMG_9761

Aloha Guys!  This is Joyce from http://enjoyscrappin2.com and today I have a No-line watercolored card using Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils.  I personally love to watercolor and these watercolor pencils are by far my favorite.  The colors are very vivid,  intense and they blend out completely.  These pencils are Waterproof, Permanent and Archival, once it's dried.  Which makes layering very easy, without having the color underneath get effected.  I love them, they are very easy to work with.  I hope you enjoy this card and I'll see you next time.  Thanks again :)
