Hi Loves. Tiare here.  Sometime you just gotta play.  There are days when I am short on time but just gotta do something creative.  My little art journal is the perfect place for this and the color of the week  Gelatos® Mars added the right amount of sparkle and energy.

Grab your Gelatos® Mars, Black Hole, Satellite, Galaxy and let's play.  Let's get creative together.

Let Your Art Out

Use  Gelatos® Mars, Black Hole, Satellite and Galaxy to color background.  Spritz with water,  color with Gelatos and  spread with a wet paint brush or finger. Let it dry.  Add a small drop of Gesso, spritz with water and spread with a  brayer.

Let Your Art Out 1

Use Ice Layers - Arrows to add a fun dimensional pattern.  Spread Texture Luxe™ Silver

with a palette knife.  Gently remove Ice Layer.  Notice how clean the pattern is.  Woohoo!

Let Your Art Out 2

Color a paper flower(die cut) or two with Gelatos® Mars.  Spritz paper with water, add Gelatos and spread with finger.  Crumble and ink edges with  Gelatos® Black Hole

Add a  decorative brad to the  center of the  flower and adhere to page.

Let Your Art Out 3

Scribble around page using Texture Gems™ Silver .

 Let Your Art Out Finish

Add splatters along the edges of the page by loading paintbrush with water, swipe across the  top of Gelatos® Mars and Black Hole and tap paintbrush to add splatters.  Lastly, apply  Gelatos® Black Hole around the edges of the page.

Hi everyone, Mou here today with an art journaling tutorial for you using the Gelatos® color Fig!

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step1_MouS

Fig is this beautiful mix of purple and grey and works really well with both warm and cool colors. Without further ado, let me show you how I used Fig in my art journaling page.

Let's start with the supplies I used:

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos® colors: Fig, Banana, Blood Orange, Blueberry, Peach

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents: Chalkboard Paint, Gel Medium, Gesso

Faber-Castell Design Memory CraftStamper's Big Brush Pen: Black

Now, let me walk you through the steps.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step2_MouS

Start by tearing found papers and attaching them to a mixed media paper base using Gel Medium. Once you have covered the whole surface, seal the papers with a top coat of gel medium. Let dry.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step3_MouS

Rub Fig Gelatos on the surface.

Add more Gelatos colors and blend with Gesso.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial2_Fig_Step5_MouS

Attach chipboard letters to spell out your word of choice. I used 'Yes' based on a hashtag I saw on Instagram. Machine stitch all over the page and stamp around randomly for some added visual texture.

'This Life' with Peach Gelatos®

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_MouS

Hi there, Mou here today wishing you a very happy new year! I have a tutorial for you using Gelatos® color Peach.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step1_MouS

The Peach Gelatos® is a really versatile color. It is great for creating skin tones and background washes. But pair it with other pastels and/or more intense colors and metallics and you can open up a whole new world of possibilities as I explored in the above piece.

To make a similar piece, you'll need the following:

Gelatos®colors: Peach, Aqua Dolce, Banana, Blood Orange, Passion Fruit, Lime, Metallic Mint

Textural Accents: Gesso, Chalkboard Paint, Stencils 10 ct 101 Collection

Others: Mixed Media paper, Paint brushes, Stamp

Let me walk you through my steps.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step2_MouS

Start by generously rubbing Peach Gelatos on the mixed media paper to create a base wash.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step3_MouS

Start adding layers of colors with other Gelatos colors. Blend them with water.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step4_MouS

Keep adding more Gelatos colors, blending some without water and some with water. Add more Peach to the mix.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step5_MouS

Tie the colors in with Chalkboard Paint and Gesso.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step6_MouS

Use  stencils to pencil in patterns. Color around the patterns.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step7_MouS

Free hand a butterfly or another motif with a paint brush and chalkboard paint to create a focal point for your piece. Make marks with Peach Gelatos.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step8_MouS

Stamp a few words.

FCDMC_January2017_Tutorial1_Peach_Step9_MouS

Metallic Icing Floral Home Decor

Meltallic Icing Fin 1

Hi Loves. Tiare here.  Natural colors just rock my world.  You can find them throughout my home from the carpet to furniture to the walls.  They are very common in many households.  However, they are even better with a bit of sparkle.  Therefore, it was quite easy for me to decide what I wanted to create using the yummy color : Gelatos® Metallic Icing  Mmmmm.

Grab your  Gelatos® and let's play.  Here's what I did.

Metallic Icing 1

Use  Gelatos® Iced Chai, Iced Coffee, Gold Champagne to make a lovely background.  I colored it on and spread with water.  Use Gesso and spread with  brayer to add another layer.  Set aside to dry.

Metallic Icing 2

Cover both sides of a lunch bag with Gesso. Next color with your Gelatos® Metallic Icing,  rub in with your  finger or a damp paint brush. Tear out 3 sets of circles, 3 circles each, with the size increasing with each circle in each set. Since you colored on both sides you can tear out 2 circles at a time.  Allow to dry.

Metallic Icing 3

Use Mixed Media Stencil 101 to add a fun pattern to canvas. Just color over with  Gelatos® Iced Chai, Iced Coffee and Gold Champagne and spread with finger.  Rub Gelatos® Iced Coffee along all four edges, rub in with finger to frame canvas.

Metallic Icing 4

Crumple all circles in a tight ball and then unfold.  Color edges using  Gelatos® Iced Coffee then gently and quickly rub Gelatos® over top to hit the wrinkles. Layer crumpled circles from small to large to create flowers.  Secure with a large brad.

Metallic Icing 5

Attach flowers to canvas with Gel Medium or by using brads through the canvas.

Metallic Icing Fin 2

Finish off by doodling on stems using Stamper's Big Brush Pen #177 Walnut Brown and scribbling around canvas with Texture Gems™ Gold to add sparkle.

Tada!

Snow Birds Art Journal Page (Gelatos Color of the Week: Metallic Blueberry)

This week the Gelatos® Color of the Week is Metallic Blueberry and that beautiful shimmery blue color reminds me of winter so I went through my Gelatos stash and found some great colors that go with it to use for an art journaling page. Besides Metallic Blueberry, I choose Elderberry and Metallic Grape.

Winter Colored Gelatos

First off, here's how the page turned out:

Snow Birds

Supplies: Gelatos - Metallic Blueberry, Elderberry, Metallic Grape; Glass Bead Glitter Gel, Gel Medium, Gesso, PITT Artist Pens - Raw Umber #180, Black #199, Tag, White Cardstock, Patterned Papers, Wreath Diecut, Sewing Machine Stitching, Brush, Palette Knife, Bird Stamp, Ribbon

Here's what I did to create it.

I collaged some papers onto the page using Gel Medium. Once it was dry I scribbled my Metallic Blueberry Gelatos over it.
Snow Birds

I sprayed on a spritz of water and used a foam brush to move the Gelatos over the page.
Snow Birds

Next, I mixed together some Glass Bead Glitter Gel and Metallic Blueberry Gelatos.
Snow Birds

I applied it with a palette knife randomly all over the page.
Snow Birds

Then I mixed the Glass Bead Glitter Gel with Elderberry Gelatos and applied it to the page as well.
Snow Birds

Then I did the same thing with  Glass Bead Glitter Gel and Metallic Grape Gelatos.
Snow Birds

Doesn't that look so yummy!! I added a touch of just plain  Glass Bead Glitter Gel and let the whole page dry.
Snow Birds

Next, I diecut a wreath out of wood veneer paper, white washed it with some diluted Gesso, and then added a bit of  Glass Bead Glitter Gel all over it.
Snow Birds

Next, I took one of my favorite bird stamps and rubbed the Metallic Blueberry Gelatos over it. Then (and this is where the magic happens) I huffed on it a few times.  You know, the way you do to fog up your glasses or a window. Then I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock.  If the image wasn't dark enough I'd repeat the same process on top of it.
Snow Birds

I used a Raw Umber #180 PITT Artist Pen to color the bird's legs on the stamp and then stamped them onto the paper.
Snow Birds

I repeated that process to create 3 birds.
Snow Birds

Next, I took an XS tip Black #199 PITT Artist Pen and made sketch marks around the birds.

Snow Birds - CloseUp

And lastly, I printed out a nice winter saying onto a tag and added the left over  Glass Bead Glitter Gel + Elderberry mixture around the edges.  After everything was dry I assembled it all together, adding some stitching on the bottom of the tag.

Easy Holiday Card Ideas

Christmas Cards Design Team

Hi Loves. Tiare here.  I love this time of year.  It gives me the opportunity to get creative and try fun and unique ideas.  One of my traditions, that I hold dear is to create non-traditional holiday cards.  I love to use unique colors and items.  I do not always keep it "Christmasy" but I keep it fun.  One thing is for sure, my cards get the attention of the recipient and often is a topic of conversation for us.  So much fun.

Today, I share my cards using this week's color  Gelatos® Metallic Mint.  Perfect for making non-traditional holiday cards with a lot of shine!  Here's what I did...

Christmas Cards 1

For my first card, I grabbed this stencil from the Mixed Media Stencils 101 Set.  Be sure to cover card with Gesso first for even smoother blending and spreading.  Place over 1/2 of card.  Use Gelatos® Metallic Mint and Metallic Blueberry to add color by simply rubbing over stencil and spreading with finger.  Add one color first and then add a little of the second color on top and blend with finger.  They blend easily and beautifully.

Add a ribbon, veneer Christmas Tree, a little gem and handwrite your sentiment using the Journaling Pitt®Artist Pens Medium Nib to finish.

Christmas Cards 2

For the 2nd card,  cover card with Gesso.  Next, use Stamper’s Big Brush Pens:  Skyblue 146 and Cobalt Green 156 to create your background.  Draw color onto craft sheet, spritz with water and drag the  card through color.  Do this one color at a time.

Next, use this stencil from the Mixed Media Stencils 101 collection  to create cute, floral images.  I simply layered the circles one at a time on top of each other to create this look.  Use Gelatos® Metallic Mint and Metallic Blueberry to add color by simply rubbing over stencil and spreading with finger, one circle at a time. Next add a gem to the center of each flower.  Draw on a vase using Stamper’s Big Brush Pens Walnut  and doodle stems with  Journaling Pitt®Artist Pens Medium Nib

Finish it off by adding a bit more shimmer by scribbling all over the card with  Texture Gems™ Gold

So fun!

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry Plaque

2016-11-24 10.31.31

This is Rachel here, and today, I would like to share with you some inspiration all about decorating for the holidays! To begin,  I used the Strawberry Gelatos®  to create a festive plaque that I can keep on display through New Years.

2016-11-24 10.08.00

I started by covering the entire plaque with Strawberry Gelatos® then incorporating a few Mixed Media Stencils in a lot of different ways. I used a ghosting technique to take color away, I used Silver Ice Gelatos® to add color through a stencil, and finally I used Texture Luxe™ Pearl Paste through the triangle stencil to add dimension. Each of these techniques are shared in my process video to give you a better idea of what I did!

For the finishing pop on the background I painted on a generous amount of Glass Bead Glitter Gel (my favorite!) and spread on a mix of Strawberry Gelatos® with Glaze medium.

2016-11-24 10.07.55

As much as I loved creating the background, the letters are really the star! I traced the Stencil 301 letters onto watercolor paper, fussy cut them out, then gave each one a coat of Gold Champagne Gelatos®, Glass Bead Glitter Gel, and Ice Texture Gems™. Each letter has so much sparkle and dimension! I love the combination of the Glass Bead Glitter Gel with the Texture Gems™ on top.

Please watch the process video to get a clearer idea of each step used to create this plaque! Thanks for watching!
