Starlight Journal page with Jen Matott

Hi fellow artists!  I want to share another of my art journal pages from my Sketchbook Project 2014 book.  Every year I create a journal for the Sketchbook Project from the Brooklyn Art Library.  It's a traveling art show of art journals!   You can choose your own theme based on a variety of starting topics they give you.  Mine was based on "Borders and Lines" but I decided to title it "In Certain Circles..." This page was inspired by rays of light.

Take the Challenge with Mou, March 2014

Hi everyone, Mou here and welcome to the third 'Take the Challenge' of 2014!

If you are new to this blog, let me fill you in about Take the Challenge. Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. We will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that month's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.
We are in the last month of the first quarter of 2014...already! I'm already starting to re-evaluate some of the things that I planned for this year -- what to keep, what to set aside for now, what to drop, etc. And one core theme that's guiding my thought process significantly is satisfaction -- that of doing a job well, living up to my own expectations, meeting standards, etc. and above all feeling fulfilled in what I do, how I do it, who I do it with and for, and why I do it. When those pieces fit, I stay motivated, curious, and creative. I find that the greatest everyday motivator for me is loving what I do and wanting to do more of it. So, my motto is "Do what you love, love what you do."
What's your motto? Show us any project that captures the essence of your motto.

Video Tutorial: Chalkboard Entertaining, Part 1

Hello Everyone!!! It's Tiffany here and I've started a fun series of Video Tutorials featuring our new Textural Accent medium, Chalkboard Paint! The series, Chalkboard Entertaining, shows various ways a clever crafter like yourself can apply chalkboard paint to the art of entertaining and decorating! It's amazing how all of the other Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® mediums work with this trendy paint!

First up, I'll be showing you how to jazz up your drinkware:

The project uses PITT® Pastel Pencils, Art GRIP® Color Pencils, Metallic PITT Pens, and Paper Crafters™ Crayons with the dry Chalkboard Paint Textural Accent!

I hope you enjoyed this week's installment of Chalkboard Entertaining! Stay tuned for more episodes in February!

Mixed media winter girl

Hey sweet creatives how goes things?
Rita Barakat here and  I was finally able to carve a little creative time
into my schedule this weekend- OK not really, but I did it anyways!
The weather around here this week has been chilly (mornings in the 30's) so I was inspired
to make this mixed media winter girl painting. Of course today it was 87! But that's Texas!

She is one of four weather girls collection I have created.
Here are some pictures in progress...

Here's the cutie card I made for you today to show off (I hope) how great these pencils are.

No line colouring!

Happy birthday vsn2

Hi there crafty friends!

I thought I'd try a technique that seems to be trending quite a bit recently,  it's called No Line Colouring.

Basically you stamp an image in very pale ink, then colour it in. When you've finished colouring, you can barely (or not at all) see the the stamping, so it looks like you've hand-drawn the image!
