Carolyn Dube here with a faux glass mosaic card. The secret to this card is the Honey Medium. Those dimensional glass "shards" are actually flexible and easy to cut. Far easier than glass!
Honey Medium comes clear and can be mixed with Gelatos to become any color of the rainbow. The Starter Kit includes the Honey Medium, the silicone tray, and the silicone spatula used to make this card, plus there are other goodies in the kit.
To get started, mix the Gelatos color with some of the Honey Medium to create the sheets of color. The texture from the spatula that is created while spreading it evenly around the tray, will be there when it dries. Once it is completely dry, remove it from the silicone tray.
Repeat the process for each color. I used 5 colors from the Brights collection, but of course you can use any color of Gelatos. The only thing to watch out for is when you stack them on top of each other, like I did for the photo below, even when completely dry they can stick to each other, so try to keep them separate.
Cut the sheets of Honey Medium into random shapes and create a mosaic. The sheets are flexible and a breeze to cut with scissors.
The faux glass sheets are translucent so what is under them will show through. To add an extra touch to the mosaic, take the yellow shapes and glue them to book text with the Honey Medium as the glue. Then cut away the excess book text.
Once you have the shapes where you want them, use the Honey Medium as the glue to attach them to the card. Trim up any edges with scissors once it is dry.
Thanks for stopping by for a bit of Honey Medium fun. This is just one of the ways it can be used. Check out Mou's tutorial for another way to use it!
