Library Pocket Card and Gift Tag

Library Pocket 1 Watermarked

Hi Loves,Tiare here. A unique card and gift tag are sure gifts that will make the recipient smile.  Here is a fun way to jazz up your next gift giving experience.

Grab your Gelatos® Iridescents and let's make a library pocket card and gift tag.  Let me show you how to make them.

Library Pocket 1

First, be sure to Gesso both the library pocket and the tag.  Next, use Stamper’s Big Brush Pens:  Black, Violet, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue to create your backgrounds.  Draw color onto craft sheet, spritz with water and drag the library pocket and tag through the  color.  Do this one color at a time.

Library Pocket 2

Next grab your Ice Layers - Bubbles to create cool circle patterns.   Just color in the shapes with your Gelatos® Iridescents and activate with a water brush or rub in with your fingers. To make a fun overlapping pattern,  pick up Ice Layers and  place over previous circles.  I love how the Gelatos® Galaxy stands out, it is such a rich and creamy color.

Library Pocket 3

Use Stamper’s Big Brush Pens:  Black #199 to add color on various circle stamps.  Stamp images on circles. Stamper's Big Brush Pens are perfect for stamping. You can also use the  ink to add detail to the edges of the tag and card.  Write a sentiment onto the library pocket and tag using Journaling Pitt®Artist Pens Medium Nib Black #199

Library Pocket 6 Watermarked

Lastly, add a cute dimensional flower to the library pocket and a fun ribbon to the tag.

Tada!

For the Love of Art - Tag

2017-03-23 18.16.21

Happy spring everyone! This is Rachel sharing a quick mixed media tag featuring the stunning new Iridescent Gelatos®, including the Color of the Week: Supernova.

2017-03-23 16.46.17

First, I started with this tag I had leftover from my last project; it's covered in Whipped Spackle that was mixed with Blue Moon Iridescent Gelatos®. I also had some watercolor paper from when I experimented with the brand new Color Fizz products... aren't the colors beautiful?!

2017-03-23 16.45.43

I found some rubber heart shaped stamps that I "inked" up with Supernova Gelatos®, misted with water, and stamped onto my Color Fizz watercolor paper.

2017-03-23 16.59.57

Two of the hearts were fussy cut and added to my tag, along with some drywall tape that was also colored with Supernova and Mars Gelatos®. You'll also see an extra-thick coat of Glass Bead Glitter Gel through a mixed media stencil.

2017-03-23 17.20.37

Lastly I added some word stickers and the tag is complete!

Create Your Own Coloring Page

Coloring Page 4 Watermarked

Hi Loves. Tiare here.  I love coloring and today it appears to be all the rage.  However, I like "old school" coloring.  You know not so tiny, tons of details kinda coloring.   Most adult coloring books have many, tiny details, and sometimes my eyes just cannot take staring at those details for too long.  However, I still want to color.  So I thought, why not use my Scandinavia Mixed Media Stencils to create my own coloring page.  I don't always feel like doodling. However, stencils are perfect and they take the pressure off of needing to draw or doodle yourself.  You can layer and play with the patterns.  Woohoo!  So I did.  This was extremely satisfying.

Grab your Gelatos® Iridescent and let's doodle and color.  Here's what I did.

Coloring Page 1

First up, Gesso your entire page.  Grab your Scandinavia Mixed Media Stencils and trace the pattern of choice using Journaling Pitt®Artist Pens Medium Nib Black #199.  Be sure you use various patterns, shapes, sizes and don't forget you can overlap if you like.

Coloring Page 2

Next, I colored in the shapes.  Just color in the shapes with your Gelatos® Iridescents and activate with a water brush.  I love how the Gelatos® Supernova makes the flowers really pop and adds a bright happy, fun feel to the page.

Coloring Page 3 Watermarked

Finish it off by coloring the background with Gelatos® Iridescents and activate and spread with a water brush and by adding shimmering, colored pearls to the center of flowers.

Tada!

Floral Art Supplies Storage Cup

Hey friends!  Adrianne Surian here with you today sharing a bright floral look you can add to your art storage area.  Square shaped pencil cups and tool organizers save space and allow for more storage than round cups, so you can fit more of what you love into a smaller space.  But in your art studio - give your storage some attitude inspired by this week's Gelatos® color of the week, Spearmint!

Pencil Cup 5 WM

Don't worry, no books were harmed in the making of this mixed media decor piece!  You can take photocopies of your favorite books, sheet music, bible verses, and more and print them out before beginning this project!

Pencil Cup 7

I happened to pick the final pages of a beloved fantasy series of mine, but this is your chance to make it your own.  A bit of Glaze, Gel Medium, and a few shades of pinks and greens along with the new Ice Layers stencils are all you need to make a personal, colorful, and useful storage piece!

Pencil Cup 2

First, trim your photocopies to fit the panels of your pencil cup.  Decoupage the papers to the wooden cup with Glaze, and coat it with a mixture that is  tinted with Gelatos®  in shades of pink.  Just cut a bit of your Gelatos® sticks and mix each individually with a small amount of Glaze in Strawberry and Bubble Gum shades.  Cover the papered areas beginning with Strawberry, the lighter shade, and accent it with small amounts of Bubble Gum tinted Glaze.

Pencil Cup 3

Allow the base coat to dry, and then adhere Ice Layers stencils to the cup.  It's convenient that the stencils can be cut apart, because offsetting the stencils instead of centering them, and making each side a little different gives the cup a more organic look.

Mix Spearmint Gelatos with Gel Medium and fill the stencil in with a rich layer of tinted glaze.

Pencil Cup 4

Allow the floral designs to dry, and accent your stencils with a bit of Glaze tinted with Green Tea Gelatos® and also with Bubble Gum colored Gelatos.  There's no right or wrong way to fill your stencils in!  I just brushed random areas with these shades to highlight the Spearmint-colored stencil.

Pencil Cup 6 WM

Thanks for joining me for today's simply-designed storage project that lets you bring a special piece of art to where you store your tools.  I hope you enjoyed it, and let me know in the comments if you try it for yourself!

Dream Scrapbook Page with Starburst Gelatos

2017-03-04 16.22.08

Ok everyone, Rachel here and I have a confession to make... My very first crafty love was (and still is) scrapbooking. I don't think I've ever shared a scrapbook-type layout on the Design Memory Craft blog, but I think now is the time to break that! The brand new Iridescent Gelatos® have sparked my scrapbooky creativity back! This week's Color of the Week is the new Starburst Iridescent Gelatos®; that gorgeous yellow color in front and center in my page.

2017-03-04 15.37.46

In my traveler's notebook layout I used a combination of Starburst and Blue Moon, with a pop of Stardust. I was able to combine some of my favorite Gelatos® techniques that I typically use in art journal pages and bring them into this scrapbook layout. I mixed Whipped Spackle and Blue Moon Gelatos® to put over the arrow Mixed Media 102 stencil. I also added my super skinny stripes of color that I made with Stardust Gelatos®, a palette knife, and water.

I show all these techniques in my process video for how to create the page shown here!

Whimsical Wall Art: Always Be A Unicorn

Hey friends!  Adrianne Surian here with you today to share a piece of wall art that's great for young girls (or not-so-young girls)! Featuring the color of the week, Passion Fruit, this unicorn themed star adds an element of attitude to anyone's wall.

Unicorn Wall Art

I'm not going to lie - I made this for myself, and it's one of my favorite decor pieces to date.  I love adding colorful art to the walls of my studio, but this bright and bold design can be adapted to your art journal, or you can change up the colors to match your room.

Unicorn Wall Art 1

I created my own stencil using letter dies, because while the stencil collections have great inspirational messages, this one was quite specific!  (You can view the entire list of products used at the bottom of this post.)  In addition to using Gelatos® in a palette to complement the color of the week, Passion Fruit, I also used a black Essential Pitt®Artist Pen with a medium nib, a Stamper's Big Brush Pen to stamp my message, and Textural Accents to add depth to the piece.

Unicorn Wall Art 2

Now I have to confess, I'm not the greatest sketch artist.  So I bought a digital stamp set from an Etsy seller to give me a great starting image.  I resized it to fit within the 11.5" MDF star base, and used Gelatos as watercolors and my Pitt Artist Pen to begin.

While I let that dry, I used Glaze to decoupage a plain sheet of white paper and a scrap of an old map onto the front of the wood shape.  While you can use Gelatos and Textural accents directly on wood, I wanted to start off with a bright white background.

Next, I cut my unicorn shape out, and decoupaged that image onto the star.  I mixed glaze with Passion Fruit Gelatos to create a striking pink background that would blend well with the unicorn's tail and mane.

Unicorn Wall Art 3

Once the Glaze dried, I used the polka dot stencil from the 101 Stencil Collection, mixing Gel Medium with Metallic Mint Gelatos.  I added a few circles kind of randomly, mainly to the areas that would not be stamped or stenciled with words.

Unicorn Wall Art 4

Finally, I added my message, using my homemade stencil to highlight some of the words in the phrase.  I mixed Iced Pear Gelatos with Glitter Glass Bead Gel for a thick, highly textured stencil, and spread it on using my palette knife.

Unicorn Wall Art 5

Next, I stamped the rest of the message in around the stencils and images within the design.  Stampers Big Brush Pens work great for adding elements like letters.  (Note: Cold Grey is pictured here, but after seeing it, I decided that Black would look better and stamped over it with a darker color.)

Unicorn Wall Art

This project was a lot of fun, and I really enjoy the bright combination of pink and green.  Once the piece dried all the way, I flipped it over and screwed a hanger onto the backside for easy wall hanging.  Thanks for joining me today and I hope you're inspired to make something whimsical yourself!
