Hi everyone, Mou Saha here today with an altered book art journal page tutorial using Faber-Castell ® Design Memory Craft® Gelatos® Guava and Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils.
Before we start, let me tell you two things:
- This art journal is not a journal at all. It's an old hard cover book. I'll show you how to prep it into an art journal.
- The illustration I used is actually a coloring page. That's a creative way to take your colored pages beyond the coloring book.
So, let's get started.
Book pages are typically thinner than art journal pages. Adding a few coats of Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accent Gesso makes it a bit stronger while priming the very porous book paper for your wet mediums. Use binder clips to hold your pages together while you apply gesso to your pages.
Tear out a page from a coloring book. Here, I have used a page from my own printable coloring book, No Place Like Home. You can use any page you have.
Cut out the image with scissors.
Attach the cut out illustration to the art journal with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accent Gel Medium.
Rub Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos Guava on the page and blend with a wet brush.
With Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Art GRIP Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils, color the illustration. Blend colors with a wet brush.
Use Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Essential PITT Artist Pens BLACK, B tip to journal.
Here's a close up of my finished page.
Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and have fun with the Gelatos Guava!
