Metallic Luxe Holiday Glass Jar Decoration Tutorial

MargieHiguchi 600x600 MetallicLuxeGlassJarDecoration

Hello and Happy December! Margie here.  The trend of glass jar is going strong and I wanted to see what I can do with it using the Texture Luxe™ Pearl medium. What is Texture Luxe™? It is an opaque acrylic paste designed to create a thick texture with a shimmery metallic finish. So I used it as a paint to cover the glass jar! What do you think?

I started with a clean glass jar and painted Texture Luxe™ Pearl about 3 to 4 coats with dry time for each coat. While the last coat dried, I cut Holly Wreath die three times with thin chipboard. Then I stacked the die cuts, gluing each with Gel Medium to create a thick embellishment piece.

Then I covered the chipboard embellishment with Texture Luxe™ Silver. After it dried, I added Design Memory Craft® Silver Ice Gelatos® to highlight the embossing in the die cut. Then I used Metallic PITT Artist Pen Silver (#251) to color the edges of the wreath for a subtle outline.

After dotting on Texture Gems™ Gold to the wreath as berries and let harden, I adhered the wreath onto the front of the glass jar with globs of Gel Medium for a strong hold. I left mine overnight to dry.

I started on my pine cones by cutting, rolling and adhering with Gel Medium. After the medium dried, I edged the pine cones with Texture Luxe™ Silver and added on Glass Bead Glitter Gel - doesn't it remind you of snow?! LOVE how the Texture Luxe™ Silver and the Glass Bead Glitter Gel mix together to create a magical effect!

I wanted to add a monogram so I cut Font One - Uppercase "H" three times with thin chipboard and stacked/glued them with Gel Medium. Then I colored them with Texture Gems™ Gold. When dried, I spread Gel Medium on the back and centered inside the wreath.

After covering the lip of the jar with white and gold trim ribbon three times around, I tied a simple bow. Then created a double loop bow from twine and adhered with Gel Medium. Lastly, I added the pine cones and let dry.
