Hi! Dana Tatar here sharing a star marquee light that I altered to add a little glamor to my craft space. I used one of my favorite color combinations, gold and blue, for this project. I had a lot of fun adding dimensional stars to this piece with the NEW Gold Texture Luxe™!
Step Two: Add a star pattern to the frame of the light using Gold Texture Luxe and a stencil. Note: I created my own stencil with a piece of acetate and a star punch.
Step Three: Cut a star from a piece of sticky back canvas. Color the canvas with Gold Champagne mist and an Aqua Dolce Gelatos. Stamp a star pattern onto the canvas using a stamp and a brown Stamper's Big Brush Pen. Note: The star marquee light came with a star template that fit inside the center of the light fixture. This is the guide I used to cut my canvas.
Step Four: Soften the intensity of the stamped canvas by applying a coat of watered down Gesso. Dry with a heat gun.
Step Five: Add color to the outer frame and inside edge of the light fixture using Gelatos watercolors. Note: I mixed Aqua Dolce, Gold Champagne and Iced Chai Gelatos with water to create watercolors, which I applied to the light fixture with a paint brush. Dry the surface with a heat gun between colors to prevent colors, especially the pale blue, from blending and becoming muddy.
Here is what the marquee light looks like when on.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you. If you'd like to see more of my work before my next post, please stop by my blog, They Call Me Tatar Salad.
