Good Times- Scrapbooking Tutorial by Irit Landgraf

Irit

Hi! Irit here with a new project, using my favorite media, Gelatos®, in my favorite colors. Let's get started!

I started my layout with gesso. I used it on most of my layout, but left some areas I knew will not be painted bare. As my base layered I added some color with Gelatos® Double Scoop® in Guava and Metallic Melon, using a wet baby wipe for blending.

For my second layer I went with some bright colors, Bubble Gum, Lemon and a more muted Peach. I used wet wipes, my fingers and some water for blending.

2015-04-11b 15

This technique is one of my favorites, removing color with a baby wipe through a stencil. Just remember that you must prime your paper with gesso to be able to do this.

I love making my own embellishments, and decided to experiment with some Whipped Spackle. I applied a thin layer of it, and then stamped right onto it. I sprayed my stamp with some water before, just to make sure it doesn't pick up too much of the Whipped Spackle. I also applied some through the same floral stencil.

2015-04-11 16

Don't forget to clean your stamp before you try this! I obviously did... I then applied some gelatos in the same colors as my background and used some water to blend them. After everything was dry, I added a thick later of Glass Bead Glitter Gel. I love the finished look, but you do lose some of the details in the image this way, so make sure it's something big and simple without a lot of tiny details. I added some more Whipped Spackle through a stencil behind my photo, as well as some fabric flowers I colored with Gelatos. Here's the finished project with some close ups-

Our family - playing with Gelatos® Double Scoops®

Dmcaprd3

Hello there! It's Riikka here to share another guest project with you! This time I did a quick layout using Gelatos® Double Scoops® and making a print with them.

The title of the page is "Our family" but the picture is of Legos? Let me explain. Our girls love Legos. Especially my older one can spend hours and hours building houses and cars and restaurants out of them. So one day my husband brought home some new Legos that he thought would represent our family in a funny way. So meet our Lego family! My husband, me and our two daughters!

Dmcapr

First I added some color to the white background using Gelatos® Double Scoops®. On top I drew the hexagons using a PITT® Artist Pen and a Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® stencil. I used the PITT® Artist Pen also for the journaling - the Black ones are nowadays the only pens I use for that! Love the flow of the pen and that it will stuck to any surface. The PITT® Artist Pens are made of India ink like the Stamper's Big Brush pens which I also used in the page. I stamped with them some scribble texture to the background and finally added also little doodled circles to the page.

Underneath is a video showing the steps I used to create the page.

I used a Gelli Plate in my project, but you can use your craft sheet as well. The image will be slightly different, though, as the plate is soft and gives up a little when you apply pressure. One key point is also the amount of water you apply while taking the print. The more water, the more watercolor like the image will be but also then the colors will be lighter and if you are making a pattern it might not come off as detailed. The best way is try and see what's the right amount for your project!

Thank you for stopping by today! Until next time!
