Keri Sallee here and today I want to share with you an art journal piece I have been working on.
Lately, I have been working on drawing faces and I wanted to pair that "in progress" skill with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils, a new medium for me.
I started with a just a pencil sketch:
If drawing faces isn't your thing, you can always do a google search for a face you like and either print on you watercolor paper (note: use the "quick print" or "draft" feature to keep the lines very light.) or use carbon paper to trace it onto your watercolor paper.
Then, I added a layer of Neocolor in FLESH before layering my Art GRIP®
Aquarelles in browns, grays and black. I also used gesso and White Neocolor as a highlighter.
The Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils by Numbers for the face:
For the hair, I used varying shades of pinks, reds and oranges.
Here's a few steps:
I continued layering this color pallet until I was happy. I then decided I needed some varying colors, so I added some purple and blue.
To finish my piece, I added a yellow shirt and the words "Time Fuels Passion" using my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft PITT Artist Pen in Black (Fine Tip.)
I chose these words because I feel like we need to give ourselves grace when it comes to our art. The more your work at it...the better you get...the more your passion grows and you continue that cycle. However, we can get discouraged when we compare our work to the work of others.
There's a quote I love that says "Don't compare your Day 1 to someone else's Day 100."
Keep that in mind. Find grace and compassion for yourself during your art journey and allow TIME to FUEL your Passion.
