Round Robin Journal with Jen Matott (AND Ustream winner)

P1010630

Have you ever participated in a traveling/ Round Robin swap before?  I used to years ago while active on Scrapbook.com, but haven't in a loooong time.  When a friend started a journal Round Robin swap, I was in!  We chose our own topic and journal and then we send it on to a designated person in our group for them to add to it!  It's exciting and fun to see the journals as we get them and create in each one.  It was hard to let go of this baby at first but I really loved getting someone else's to create in.  Here is a peek at my journal before I mailed it on to my buddy!

P1010631This Maya Road journal was perfect because the kraft covers work so well with our Textural Accents and Gelatos® colors!  I first applied Textural Accents Gel Medium to the papers and adhered them to the cover!  Gelatos® colors in Bubble Gum, Mango, Tangerine, Lemon, Metallic Mint and Watermelon were added and smudged over the papers and cover.  I also added Metallic Mint with water to drip on the papers.

P1010632Using a stencil from my stash, I applied Textural Accents Whipped Spackle.  I also stamped the hand pointing with PITT Stamper's Big Brush Pen in Black.

Inside, I created my page with lots of colors, stamping, and Whipped Spackle.   I used Marco's Paper Multimedia/ Aquarelle Watercolor Cardstock for the pages.  This paper is A-MAZ-ING!  Thick and 100% cotton rag!  I'm in love!  I used our brand new Design Memory Craft Gelatos® Steampunk set for most of this page color.  I made a puddle by coloring with the Cinnamon and Black Cherry Gelatos®.  I added water and let it drip!  Then, I used a dotted stencil and a foam applicator to add dots with the Black Cherry Gelatos®.   Stamping with the Steampunk Gelatos® and Stamper's Big Brush Pen in Black added some of the fun shapes.

P1010635Whipped Spackle was mixed with Gelatos® colors in Bubble Gum and Snow Cone add spread through stencils on the page for texture!

P1010634My theme is "Currently..." with a list of what each participant is into right now.  I used a pre-made template that I found online and printed it on vellum.  I wrote my answers with a PITT Artist Pen in black and stapled it on my page.

I can't wait to see what everyone else adds to the book!  At least I know I'll be getting mail soon!  If you haven't participated in a swap like this, it's a fun way to connect with other artists!  You can usually find one on a scrapbooking or mixed media forum online.  I'll update with my pages in other journals soon!

Do you find that it takes a long time to get the journals to move along to the next person and eventually back to you?

Wow! I can't believe I'm the winner of your generous prize from last night's Ustream. I really enjoyed the class and am very much inspired to try some layering of color, paper, wax, transfers, gold leaf and more.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for selecting lucky me for your prize. Thank you for also for providing the education, tips, techniques and projects to help me better use your excellent products.

Love the cover and theme for the journal.

I love your journal, inside and out! Thank you for your class last night. I enjoyed it and am so inspired by it. I've got to get the Steampunk colors in my life very soon! I love how you combine the colors on the front of your journal and on the page inside. The texture and how you put everything together is beautiful! Congratulations to Patty Gracey for winning! Have fun with your prizes!

Congratulations Party and enjoy the wonderful prize! Thank you for sharing all the techniques Jen!!!

Oops I meant Patty :)

Congratulations Patty :)
FABULOUS cover & 1st page Jen!!!
I have participated in what we called a "Circle Journal" over here in Australia (they were actually small scrapbooks, 8x8 and 6x11) and it was FUN, we each set our themes and posted our journals off, then had a few weeks to get our entries done & posted off. Because "life" can get in the way, we had a monthly turn-around, so it took nearly a year and we all ended up with lots of special pages. For me, it was lovely to have work created by others to admire and enjoy, HIGHLY recommend it to you all to try, just remember to take lots of photos and ensure secure postage.
