Beachy Glass Bead Glitter Gel Glass Jar
Hi, everyone! Margie Higuchi here with a beach themed project, using the Glass Bead Glitter Gel. I used the white mini glass jar from my 4th of July Gel & Gelatos Glass Jar project and kicked it up a notch.
I was so inspired by fellow guest design team member Tonya Gibbs' Beach Layout design that I wanted to incorporate it in a home decor piece :) THANK YOU TONYA~! To start I colored the jar with a combination of Design Memory Craft® Gelatos® in Metallic Mint Gelatos® Double Scoop®, Butterscotch Gelato® Double Scoop® and Chocolate Gelatos® Double Scoop®.
The colors were blended with small pieces of baby wipe tissue, water color brush and my fingers. Also if you need more color, just layer more on top. Let dry for a few moments.
Next I spread the Glass Bead Glitter Gel on the Metallic Mint Gelatos® Double Scoop® color areas (symbolize water) with a Palette Knife and my fingers. It will dry clear and sparkly - SO PRETTY!! I just love how all these products mix and match so well in my project!
Then I worked on the netting I cut small pieces for the front and back to the jar. Used the Gel Medium as a stiffener and left them to dry. After it dried and stiffened, I used the same Gel Medium to adhere the netting on to the jar. Great versality of this medium!
I colored the Whipped Spackle with Butterscotch Gelato® Double Scoop® to create some textured grounding around the netted areas and to act as a mortar for the shells. Let it dry for a bit. Second image is the backside of the jar...thought I would give it an accnt :)
Next I stamped images from Anchors Away Clear Stamps set by JustRite® Papercraft with Stamper's Big Brush Walnut Brown Pen. After I fussy cut the image, I sealed the image with Glaze for some shine! These big brush pens are odorless India ink that won't bleed and is waterproof - perfect covered with thick Glaze!
While that was drying, I prepared my Circle Hatpin bezel from Spellbinders® Media Mixáge™ line by adding beads on top (secured with wet adhesive) and snipped off the excess pin. I stacked two 3D Foam Squares where the stamped image would sit once dry.
After adhering the bezel on the netting ensemble, set aside to dry. In the meantime I finished the project with a "Anchors Away" sentiment from the Anchors Away Clear Stamps set. I torn the end and created a ribbon tail to adhere at the bottom.
Add sand inside the jar with a candle, add water with a flower or two or leave it just as is...many choices! Here's another look...
