Terrific Kid Layout by Tonya Gibbs

Terrific Kid Layout by Tonya Gibbs

Hi  everyone  I hope you are having a great weekend.  A few months ago my sweet little nephew called me to tell me he was given the Terrific Kid award for his 1st Grade class.  I told him that “I already knew he was a terrific kid.”  He said “Well, now everyone at school knows!”  LOL!  So today, I'm going to let the World know with this beautiful Mixed Media layout!

I love to create my own backgrounds for my layotus.  Especially for masculine layouts.  Just look at all this yummy texture! I featured the  brand new  Steampunk Gelatos® with the Gold Champagne Gelatos®  and Black Licorice Gelatos®  to create my background.   Then decided that the  Chalkboard paint  would make an awesome accent/background for my journaling.    To keep with the school theme,  I also incorporated a few pages from a dictionary since first grade is all about spelling words, and definitions.  Here is what my background looked like before I added my layered accents and my photo.

I've prepared a process video for you to see how I created this layout.

I hope I have inspired you to create your own backgrounds for your layouts, and given you lots of ideas for your masculine layout.

Thanks for stopping in today,

Tonya Gibbs

Wonderful page - loads of techniques to take away! LOVE that you repurposed the packaging to create a palette - so clever. Cooper is going to love this :)
