Summer Sun collaboration with Penny Black: Todays project by Rita

Penny Black Blog Hop - Day 4 with Jen Matott

10345845_10204099677311919_1259356990906209029_nAs the summer sun begins to rise and the temps heat up, what better way to beat the heat than crafting! Join us all this week for a special collaboration with Penny Black. We're sharing fun projects here on our blog using Penny Black stamps AND you'll find projects from the Penny Black designers on their blog featuring our Paper Crafter Crayons and Double Scoop Gelatos. We want you to join in the fun, too, so don't miss the giveaway details at the end of this post.

Jen Matott here for Day 4 in our Blog Hop!  I have a fun project that I did using many of our Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft products.

PennyBlack_JenMatott7Using this gorgeous Penny Black Poppy Stamp, I created a background of Gelatos colors in Mango, Margarita Mix, and Watermelon (from the Designer Tropical set) by applying them dry to a thick mixed media paper from Marco's Paper.

PennyBlack_JenMatott4I spritzed with water and tipped the paper so that it ran on one side and then tipped it the other way to let it run the other side.  One dry, I add a stamped image.

I stamped the image with a Stamper's Big Brush Pen in Black.  I mixed up some Gelatos®  Double Scoop® Snow Cone with Whipped Spackle with the Tool kit and put it through a stencil.

I used my heat gun to warm up the paper (it's 100% cotton) on a heat resistant surface.  While the heat gun is concetrated on one area of the poppy, I colored with the Paper Crafter's Crayons.  I used a variety of reds and oranges layered while heating.  The colors are so vibrant and intensify when melted!

Just using my heat gun and some of  the fun Paper Crafter's Crayons, I created a vibrant, summery piece of artwork!  What can you do with the crayons?

Penny Black's Poppy Trio is my favourite stamp and does it ever look beautiful in this piece! The colors are so pretty and bright and the colored spackle into the stencil go perfectly, with the greeting just tucked into place. Is it really possible to do another piece where the colors blend and the spritz tilting will land like that again? It really does look like controlled perfection - LOL! Thanks so much for sharing.
