Have your adventure!

Finished card

Hello friends!  Katie here from KBStamps.  I am sooooo excited to be part of the Summer 2014 Guest DT for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Admittedly, before I joined this team I had not yet used Gelatos®.  WHAT?!  I know I am so behind the times!  BUT, I love to color and use color of all forms, so it wasn't hard to imagine myself using them. Well I am here to tell you that I did and I do (used them and love them).  I can't get enough of them!!!!!!

For my first foray into Gelatos® I decided to have an adventure. :)

For this creation I used Gelatos® Double Scoop® and Whipped Spackle.  The specific Gelatos® are:

  • Lemon Gelatos® Double Scoop®
  • Bubble Gum Gelatos® Double Scoop®
  • Metallic Melon Gelatos® Double Scoop®
  • Metallic Mint Gelatos® Double Scoop®
  • Raspberry Gelatos® Double Scoop®

It was pretty easy and here is how I did it.

Step 1- Apply Gelatos® Double Scoop® randomly onto your white cardstock and start smudging them around using a blending tool or finger.   In the end some colors will overlap and create additional colors and that is OK, actually what you want, but you don't want them all to blend, so I recommend using a different finger for each color, otherwise they will transfer from one to another.

 Step 3

Step 2- Once you've thoroughly blended all the colors as you want them (for me I was going for the psychedelic look) you can put your desired stencil on top of the cardstock and Gelatos® Double Scoop®.  You can then apply your Whipped Spackle over the top of the stencil.  Note that this goes on pretty smooth with a pallet knife but you can just as easily use something like an old credit card for application.  Also, the Whipped Spackle goes a long way, so you don't have to use too much.  Once you've applied you can remove the stencil and set aside to dry.

Step 4

Here is what it looked like after I removed the stencil....

Step 3- While the Whipped Spackle is drying you can cut your velum to the size you want and stamp your image or sentiment on it with Versamark.  Then emboss the image/sentiment with your desired embossing powder.  I used black embossing powder (from SU!) and sentiments are from Walter & Winnie.  I chose the black because I knew it would contrast the brightness of the Gelatos® Double Scoop®.

Step 4- When your Whipped Spackle is dry you can affix your velum layer to the top using your preferred adhesives, I used glue dots for mine.  Again, here is my finished product.

Finito!  Pretty Easy eh?!  I think so and I love the finished look.  I certainly hope you do to and welcome your feedback.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
