Mixed Media fun

Fun times wm

Hi, it’s Beck Beattie here again for sadly my last post for my guest design spot term.  I have enjoyed this experience so much and learnt so many new techniques through experimenting with the divine products we received.  I really wanted to have some fun with this last post and play with the different products in some ways I haven’t before, and created this mixed media Scrapbook page.

I just love how the colours, various products and layers come together to create the layout full of details and interest.  To show you just how it all came together I have created a video for you to enjoy and hopefully learn some new techniques.

As you can see I really enjoyed experimenting with the different products and having some fun.  Be sure to play with your products and see what they can do applied in different ways or mixed with other products for unusual effects.   Here are some close ups of the textures created in the layout.

Be yourself in journaling

Be yourself

Hello, Olga Siedlecka here. In my last post as a guest designer I would like to present you my another entry based on a mixed media journal and versatile products by Faber-Castell, which you can mix and match with flying colours.

1

1. I started with covering the surface with a light coat of Gesso and watered Gelotos. Then I put a thick coat of Whippled Spackle using both a stencil and a spatula and let it dry.

2

2. I glued some collage scraps with Gel Medium and colored them with Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils and bit of water. I also traced the dimentional elements. I think that a little color goes a long way.

3

3. I placed another stencil and covered the surface beneath with Gelotos in blue palette. Then I started stamping using PITT® Artist Pens with big brushes which are waterproof and perfectly matched to color sets.

4

4. Finally, I doodled some patterns on the whole using black PITT® Artist Pens and glued some embellisments with Gel Medium. And voila! The dimensional journal entry was ready.

I hope you feel a bit inspired. Have a nice day!

Hi everyone, Mou here today!

Magnolias are in full bloom all around here... the big white flowers and their intoxicating fragrance fill the nights when we sometimes hang out by the pool in the back porch. They inspired me to create a little collage.

Art journal video with Vicky

Art journal flip flops

Hi everyone! It's Vicky here and today I am sharing a fun art journal layout. In the video below I will show you a technique on how you can create awesome mixed media results by just using your patterned papers, the Faber-Castell gel medium and your PITT Stamper's Big Brush pens.

IMG_8029-001

If you had to keep it limited in terms of supplies then your must have tools should be your gel medium jar and your big brush markers! I'll show you today how versatile they are, you can apply color with them to your layout, stamp with them and even add shading or highlights.

IMG_8027-001

To create my summer scene I used papers, glued them down with my gel medium and then used my artist pens to do the shading. To add more details I just glued down some flat wooden embellishments here and there.
