Butterfly Canvas Collage
Coloring on Kraft Cardstock

Love Bird

Hi all, Jill here with a fun home décor project.  To begin I started with a wooden bird purchased at my local craft store.

Next, I stamped directly onto the bird using a black Stamper’s Big Brush Pen.  I used one image and stamped it repeatedly to cover the entire bird.

I then colored in the floral images using Stamper’s Big Brush Pens.

To add extra texture, I stamped a script stamp using the Cold Grey II Stamper’s Big Brush Pen. Before stamping I removed some of the ink with a baby wipe. I stamped randomly, so as to cover only sections of the background, not the entire thing.

I help create a cohesive look, I painted Gesso onto the bird randomly as well as coloring with a Coconut Gelato® to mute the bright background in some areas.  I colored with the Gelato® directly onto the background and then blended it with my fingertip.

Finally, I added definition and distressing to the edges using a Pastel Pencil, coloring onto a scrap piece of cardstock, rubbing my finger onto the paper to remove some of the color, and then rubbing my finger along the edges of the bird.

I added a wooden word (colored with a Stamper’s Big Brush Pen) as well as die cuts and butterfly punches/dies using dimensional adhesive.

Thanks for popping by! Happy Stamping!
