Liberating Compositions

FindingShapes_A

Hello, friends!  Vivian here to share an art journaling page I just completed that was very much inspired by all the work I've been doing in a rather large plot of dirt that I'm slowly nurturing into a garden.

My favorite part of spring is going through the gardening catalogs, choosing which plants I'd like to try out, and starting those plants from seed.  Watching the little babies pop out of their casings is pure joy.  And while the seedlings generally require a lot of attention until they've fully stretched their roots into the soil, there is such satisfaction in being able to create such a bounty of food and beauty from a bit of tender loving care and a truly minimal financial investment.  I'm talkin' just a few bucks!

Some patterns created using some of my well loved dies.  A detail of an area where shapes and lines concentrate...

Randomly placed on the page, and unified by employing a few really easy techniques.

I have a video tutorial which shows how this page came together and introduces some liberating methods for creating interesting, abstract compositions.  It's so much fun!

Hope you'll take a break from your day to check it out.  If you are interested, a full supply list is available in the description box under the video.

Stunning page! Thank you so much Vivian for creating the video. You always share so many wonderful tips about techniques and products. I always look forward to learning so much from your videos. And it doesn't getting any better than when you share the stories of preparing for gardening and how well that connects with your art.
PS...I am waiting for you to add ladybugs to your garden (great pest control) so we can see them in your art too:-)

Again, a great page. I love the die cuts collage and the colors. I think I'll use sand paper in my collages. I don't have gelatos and those pens yet but I hope soon I can purchase them.
