Happy New Year everyone!

Nikky here with my very first post - it's so exciting to be part of this wonderful team for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft!

I've always used Faber Castell products since childhood so I was very excited to start creating with all the latest goodies they have to offer. I hadn't used Gelatos before so I really wanted to get a feel for what this product does and how it works with all the other mixed media in the range so I decided to just have a mess around and see what I could do as a quick make. The Gelatos didn't let me down!

 1.  To make this I cut out a simple tag shape and covered it with paper.

I used the Stampers Big Brush Pen to ink up a clear stamp from the Mixed Media pack and then also pushed a Metallic Pitt marker through the ink too and repeat stamped the image.

I love how that came out and that you can mix the inks together, it's so cool to get a mix of metallic and non-metallic together on the same stamp, quite difficult to achieve with other pens. I also loved how much coverage there was on the actual stamp, sometimes when you try to ink direct to stamp you get a resist to the polymer so it goes all patchy but the coverage was great! I then stamped onto the tag - the result was a fantastic sheen to the stamping, love this technique!

2.  Next, I made a dotty pattern with the Pitt Pastels, added a corner of a doily and then used the pastel to slightly colour tint it.

You really don't need to add much Gelato - just touch it lightly where the embossing is on the doily, then rub it with your fingers to push it into the design of the holes and paper. It's very subtle but gives the doily a lovely metallic finish.

3.  I added a gold edge to a heart which I cut freehand using the Metallic Pitt marker just to finish it off and hide the white edges.

4.  Finally, I ran around all the edges of the tag with a gold, blue and silver Gelato to distress it.

The Gelato's are amazing! For some reason I thought they'd be a wet ink but they are a waxy texture which means you can use them like wax rubons which I absolutely adore. I'm really not a glittery bling person but I love the metallic sheen you get with these and they could be used on an array of different surfaces!

Hope you like this tag, I'm giving this to my husband for Valentine's Day as a bookmark, why not make one too for the man in your life! See you next time! xx

I love using all kinds of different products in my crafting but my favourite is mixing different mediums and finding new techniques and effects - usually by accident! Cool tag. I've never tried using metallic markers on my stamps. Cool effect it gives. Thanks for the idea. :)

Love the tag :)
