January 'Take the Challenge' with Mou
Today, I have a challenge for you. I feel that creative challenges help us experiment and learn new
things. Challenges can help us get unstuck from creative ruts. They can also inspire us to create in ways we would not have thought of otherwise. So, I decided to take a few creative challenges myself and thought you might like to play along.
Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. The following Monday, we will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that week's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.
Today's challenge is about CREATIVE RESOLUTIONS.
Document your creative resolution(s) for 2013 in some form of art.
Every new year, many of us resolve to do certain things, set up goals, make plans, make lists, and such. My creative resolutions for 2013 are to try new things, to try to think outside the box, to stretch beyond my comfort zone, to look for creative possibilities, and also to expand my creative connections by attending crops and shows and events, teaching and taking classes, making new creative friends, and more.
In keeping with my resolution about trying new things and making new connections, I made this New Year's greeting card for a new friend.
In an attempt to do something out of the box, I used an image that does not necessarily relate to celebrations, but something that let me express my sentiments perfectly.
These are the steps to making this card:
1. I scribbled on the card with Paper Crafter Crayons™ to create a colorful freestyle background.
2. Then I pieced together a few scraps of paper, some washi tape, and fabric.
3. I used Stamper's Big Brush Pen: BLACK to ink up my stamp. I cut out the stamped image and layered it on the card.
4. I stitched the pieces to secure them as well as to add some texture.
5. Finally, I added the sentiment using Essential PITT® Artist Pens: BLACK
Don't forget to share your clallenge creations with us... just leave a comment to this post with link to your project image(s) by Friday, 1/18 and we will pick TWO winners randomly to win these
Hope you play along!

Loving your bright and colorful greeting for your friend. I found my words for 2013 when I saw a post on facebook and they cross over to all aspects of my life. So I printed out the image from facebook and used it to create my journal page with I am going to include in my Life Book for 2013.

I really need more Faber-Castell products, as all I have right now are fluorescent pencil crayons. So I did a project for this challenge with those:

I'm so glad I found this challenge. I just used the Big Brush Pens and Pitt Pens on my book for the Sketchbook Project 2013. I have more pics of pages of it on my blog. I uploaded three images. I'm with the previous poster - I need more Faber-Castell products for my art. Thanks for the challenge!!

One of my New Year's resolutions is to reconnect with crafting - painting and art journaling especially... I started with the Prompt6ix! Challenge (from Tammy at daisyyellowart.com) I'm excited that I found your page - perhaps I'm lucky enough to refresh my art supply! :)
