Stamper’s Big White Pen- Perfect for Stamping!

Jill21

Hi, it’s Jill here sharing three quick and easy tags using our newest Stamper’s Big White Pen!  I began by coloring directly onto my stamps with the Stamper’s Big White Pen.  I colored quickly and stamped onto dark colored cardstock.  Once dry, I darkened the white stamping by coloring directly onto the paper with the Stamper’s Big White Pen and blending with my fingertip.  For fine lines and details, I used a touch of Gesso on a very small paintbrush.  I really love the painted look created with this technique.

Meet our New Guest Design Team

We're so excited to introduce our new guest designers!  To get to know them a little better we devised a short Q & A.

We hope you enjoy this as much as we did!

Irit

IRIT SHALOM , Israel

What's your favorite food?  My favorite food is everything baked! I actually live on fresh baked rolls, bread and everything in between. Lucky me is size 0 -2 all herlife, so I can continiue with it forever.

What are three things you can’t live without?  3 things I can't live without (and I decided not to count my family as they are not a thing, but my treasures): web connection,  smocking (bad, I know, please forgive me for this), good historical novel.

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  If I could go anywhere  (and I actually visited about 50 countries already), it will be Japan. I adore all things Japanese- colors, tastes, art.I need to see it , so it's on my travel list.

When did you first start crafting?  I start crafting as an adult about 7 years ago, but I am deeply into it  for about 4 years already and I think it will be forever.More I craft, more I want to improve.

Any words to our readers?  Words to my readers: I will try to show you my versability, as I am all in one crafter: I scrap, make cards, do altered art,  Mixed Media, jewelry and I am also a very " multi style" artist. So during my term on this team I will try to make all possible projects and all possible styles and I hope I will give they an inspiration  to move from their comfort  zone to new adventures. I am  really thrilled to be a part of this fantastic team and to make my best for my readers.

Anita

ANITA SCROGGINS , TX

What's your favorite food?  Tex-Mex for sure!

What are three things you can’t live without?  My Posse, Books (esp. Jane Austin) and a phone. I am quite the talker!

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Easter Island to see the migration of the Red Crabs

When did you first start crafting?   As soon as I could hold scissors! I remember the sweet lady next door teaching me to crochet when I was about 7 years old.

Any words to our readers?  Attitude is everything - it can make all the difference in the world in how you are perceived.

KatieKATIE SMITH, TX

What's your favorite food? Anything with pumpkin in it. I’m obsessed with pumpkin.

What are three things you can’t live without? My art supplies, my technology and my family.

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  I’d love to visit Alaska. I grew up in Texas, so I’ve never seen that much snow.

When did you first start crafting?  I’m lucky to have had a wonderful Mother who did fun crafty things with me as a little girl. I’ve switched from kid crafts to sewing, scrapbooking and mixed media, but I’ve never stopped crafting.

Any words to our readers?  I hope you’re inspired by my projects using Design Memory Craft products. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the design team does as well.

GABRIELA DELWORTH, Canada

What's your favorite food?  Salmon and Tuna Sashimi {with Sesame seaweed}

What are three things you can’t live without? Plants, colours and music

Any words to our readers?  Let's celebrate the start of the new year creating with Faber Castell! Stay tuned!

Nikky

NIKKY HALL, UK

What's your favorite food? Ice-cream!

What are three things you can’t live without? Paper, pencils and beautiful shoes!

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Canada

When did you first start crafting?  My mum said I must have been drawing before I was born, I've crafted all my life, I can't imagine my life without craft.

Any words to our readers? When crafting, always be true to yourself – don’t worry about whether other people think you’re good or not because there is no right or wrong, there’s just different. If you want to master a certain technique find someone who’s style you love and practice, practice, practice! Don’t try and copy exactly because it won’t work, just take inspiration from what they do and then add your own twists to create your own style, which will be beautiful in it’s own right.

What's your favorite food?   I have quite a few favorite food but my all time favorite is Mexican style food I love all thing a bit spice up and love, love, love all kind of fresh salads along with a slice of French bread.

What are three things you can't live without? Oh! Boy only 3 things?? my phone, agenda and colored pencils

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to go China/Japan their custom and culture are so strong and some of the mayor crafts manufacturer are in China and japan...and that means that lots of crafty goodies!!!!

When did you first start crafting?  I've been crafting since I was 6 years old, I have always love colored pencils, crayons, paints, markers I used to spend hours painting and playing with all of my colors..... my favorite Christmas present from all time has been markers I remember that one of my aunt who lived in USA always ask what to bring when she was coming to visit.....and I have always asked for colored pencils and markers!  My fascination for color grew so much as I was growing up, that I started my own colored pencils and markers collection.

In 1994 I bought my first Rubber stamps and was introduced to this amazing world of stamps and that meant more options to color and try new things ; my obsession began!! along came scrapbooking and my dreams of becoming a Cardmaker and Crafter took its own. Today I had been blessed with the honor of working for some of manufacturer and great crafter along the way.  I am so thankful for my life, family and my handsome boy and so bless with this gift of crafting.

Any words to our readers? To always follow your dreams and put your heart in all that you do!!

What's your favorite food?  I’ve recently changed my entire lifestyle in order to lose weight and be healthy – so this is a loaded question!  I guess I would say anything that is good for me.  I don’t really think of food in terms of anything but fuel these days.

What are three things you can’t live without? Home, Family, Community --  these things are my life.  I love my community of Sandy Hook, Connecticut.  At times of love and times of tragedy these three things will carry you through.

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  Paris, France.  I would love to visit the Musee d’Orsay again and stroll through the city with my husband, with a camera and sketchbook in my bag.

When did you first start crafting?   I never thought I was creative in any respect until I got my first rubber stamps.  Now creativity; paints, inks, markers are a part of my soul as immutable as my DNA.

Any words to our readers?  This is one of my favorite quotes.  It is more appropriate now than ever before as we work to heal our community.

“When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.”  -- Michael Bridge

SwarupSWARUP M, IL

What's your favorite food?  I love food that has been freshly prepared. as far as picking a favorite goes, I am currently leaning towards Thai Panang curry.

My camera and  watercolor travel bag- a small 4x6 bag containing the basics of watercolor sketching. And of course my lip gloss!

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  This is such a tough one!, I have so many places on my wish list , it would be hard to pick one! .....I love the mountains, and have been  longing to go and see the rooftop of the world - Ladakh

When did you first start crafting? i have been crafting since I was a little girl, i would almost always be found coloring ,cutting and pasting even when I was actually supposed to have been completing math homework!. My immediate source of inspiration was my mother who used to sew a lot, even crochet, and embroider in her free time. I remember I would love to sit by her side and watch her create beautiful little pieces of art with her hands!

I started crafting seriously on a more professional level 12 years back when I started scrapbooking for others , I  have since then moved on to cardmaking and mixed media. I enjoy watercolors the most.

Any words to our readers?  I am so happy to be here and consider it a privilege to be associated with Faber Castell and am looking forward to sharing with you all some really colorful projects using their Design Memory Craft products.

Do join me in my creative journey!

What's your favorite food? It's a tie between my momma's traditional Korean foods and my chefly husband's international repertoire of recipes.

What are three things you can’t live without?  Oh that's not easy.  On a day to day basis?  Abundant daily hugs, fresh air, my furry companions/collaborators.

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  Gosh, thanks to an older brother in international relations, I travelled quite a bit from my early teens straight through college.  At this point in my life, I'm quite content to be exactly where I am, at home.  A few countries on my bucket list - Spain, France, Thailand.

When did you first start crafting?  As a kid, I had a crafting table set up in the corner of our TV room, and I'd spend hours there quietly doodling.  As I got older, that evolved into various media - pastels, acrylics, oils.  These days, I spend a lot of my time with papercraft.  I'm also very excited about mixing the media to create organic, grungy effects.  For about the last 5 years, I've also been a huge fan of watercolor - it's luminous qualities, the way color mixes and spreads on the page, and the challenges unique to this medium.

Any words to our readers?  I'm really looking forward to visiting with you here over the next few months and getting to know this audience better.  I will do my best to provide you with some great inspirations and fuel your crafty mojo with techniques that you can easily incorporate into your crafty toolbox!

What's your favorite food?  This one is tough since I really enjoy eating. *LOL* Top on my list is Japanese cuisine. I love the sweetness of sashimi and the beautiful presentation of Japanese food.

What are three things you can’t live without? Family and friends, sunglasses and water.

If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Egypt. I find ancient civilization mysterious and intriguing.

When did you first start crafting?  I starting crafting seriously in 2009 after I started blogging to play along with online challenges.

Any words to our readers?   Playing with mediums is a really fun way to create unique backgrounds. I have made some regrettable craft supply purchases but my mediums like paint, watercolour pencils and crayons are my best investments to date.

Melted Backgrounds and Accents with Paper Crafter Crayons™

Jill15

As soon as I laid eyes on the beautiful colors of the Paper Crafter Crayons™, I just knew I wanted to try a new technique!  Each card today began with a simple melted background.

Jill16

To create the backgrounds, color directly onto a hot mini craft iron (I found mine in the wearable arts section of my local craft store) using Paper Crafter Crayons™.  The color melts onto the iron and as you swipe the iron across your paper, the color transfers to the paper. I used glossy cardstock which allowed the melted color to move easily across the page.  Start with your lightest colors and add in your darker colors.  Try patting the paper with the iron for unique effects or swirl the iron across the page.   The wax dries quickly and has a beautiful shine!

Art from the Heart with Design Memory Craft

WeckesserFaberCastellHug5

I really have enjoyed being able to create blog posts for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft. It has given me a chance to take a little time from my hectic schedule and to sit down, reflect inside myself and to create {ART} for me. It has been wonderful! Often when my emotions are affecting me, whether I feel sad, happy, upset, tired, or scared…. I turn to art. I always have turned to art because I find it to be very healing for my heart, body, mind, and soul.

This week I took out a piece of texture cuts wood sheet from Stampin’ Up! Inc.  and some of my favorite Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft supplies and poured my heart out! I started by lightly drawing the outline of a face on to the sheet with a pencil. Because I was working on wood I could have put a base coat on it first, but I wanted the beautiful colors of the Gelatos® to seep through the grain of the wood when I used water with it. This creates a neat effect.

Gelatos® Butterflies

 Darlene40

Hi All!  Today is my last day as a guest designer, so I thought I would use the product I love the most – Gelatos®!

I used blue and green metallic Gelatos® for the butterflies and the background.  It’s very shimmery.  Here is a look at the finished card.
